I'm after the easiest way to do this bearing in mind I'm no good at this type of thing!
The web wizard in Frontpage is OK but I was wondering if there are any other packages that sorts out html for you that are better and free!!

I'd suggest Dreamweaver..but I am biased as my girlfriend is responsible for the UK marketing. I've got a Macromedia Web Design Basics curriculum guide which I could let you if you get really stuck.

Dreamweaver is pretty easy and you should be able to set up a basic site in a few hours. Another good pakcage is Freeway by Softpress wehich is very easy. Microsoft Frontpage is pants and Microsoft don't even use it themselves !!

i have to agree with Lee and GT - learn raw HTML first, before you start to use any fancy packages.

I use "Visual Notepad" http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif, and although my pages aren't the most flashy around, at least they should work on all browsers (don't forget, some are still text only), and don't waste bandwidth unnecessarily.

Something like Frontpage Express is a quick way of learning what actually makes a page up (just look at the source), but you can't beat getting back to basics.

Its for work (yes work!) finally perswaded them to do a homepage. Once I get round to owning a PC I'll stick scoobs all over it!
Naturally my WRX is on my desktop at work though.
I trust I'm not the only one who should be on the BBS in their own time only!!(allthough this thread was in the name of R+D of course)

my personal, and our company site were designed, if you can call it that http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif in raw html, using nothing more than Adobe photoshop and two text editors (simpletext and BBEdit if you're interested)

I've tried many, many graphical site building apps and I really don't like using them, maybe it's because I prefer to get my hands dirty with all that code. It also adds an even more personal touch. OK, so both sites are not the best in the world, but they work and serve their purpose.

I've seen the HTML generated by some packages and it's very, very poor, which leads for major problems when you've people accessing the site on different platforms using different browsers.

To actually answer your question, I'd go for dreamweaver as it's pretty simple but powerful to boot.

Whilst we are on the subject of web pages, has anyone managed to produce some WAP pages?

As far as i can tell, i should be able to publish such stuff on my demon site. Judging by the number of Nokia 7110's owned by Scooby drivers, it would be nice to be able to show meet details for the mobile users.
