Come on guys, if you wanna win the euro cup, you should switch your trainer ASAP and kicks the butt of some of your players ;-)))

Even my country (belgium) has won his first match :-)

Don't go there!

England lucky to finish 3rd in group i think.

Where do you start? Ince over runin midfield ,Seaman diving after the balls in the back of the net (should be on stage).

Beckham had an amazing first 15 mins but the finger up to the disapointed fans isn't going to give him any boost for the next game (red card i thk).

Too old and with no prospect for the future!

then only side thats look as though they can go all the way is France (and maybe spain who play tonight).

...Le Mans at the w/e so i won't have to watch the stuffing we may get from Germany.

Steady, boys, steady.

That was England's hardest group game.

The Salmon Trouts and Dracula's offspring will be rubbished in due course, you'll see.

Ian Sutton 13 June 2000 01:48 PM

I hope your right!

Jay m A 13 June 2000 01:59 PM

Grrrr!

Its so frustrating seeing a 2 goal lead turn into defeat but having seen the 2nd half of Germany v Romania, we should (well MUST) beat both of them. If we can't beat the Germans this time we don't deserve to go through.

Back to the Portugal game I felt the teams played just like the Wembley fixture when we won 3-0. i.e. Portugal always looked like scoring and we capitalsed on their crap defending.

Great game for the neutrals I heard but I don't care about that - made me bloody miserable. Being a Palace fan I'm used to it, must be weird for Man U fans to see their boys lose for a change. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

No it was a case of our prehistoric style of football, when will we learn that the long ball game is dead ?
we've got no one who can run and take on people, pass the ball even. It's just a case of get the ball out wide a hit and hope cross and stick it on Shearers head, it doesn't take too long for these other teams to work out how to stop this masterplan, it stinks !!
Also why havn't we got players who can pass our so called premiership stars are amongst the highest paid in world football.
Still come on England http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif

mprocureur 14 June 2000 07:59 AM

May be also the problem is you have too much foreign players in your premier league, i've heard 2 more "world champion" frenchies would come to your country next year.

Lilian Thuram arriving from Parma and Robert Pires arriving from Marseille.

If you add Fabien Barthez in Manchester, i think you have the full national french team now playing in UK.....

Hi subverbal,

Yep, we do not have (once again) the right level to win the euro cup. We didn't realize the opportunities we had, italians did...

Anyway, nilis is a good player and i'm sure he will still score tons of goal next season ;-)))

So guys, are you ready to kick the butts of the germans ? :-))))

Mike

subverbal 15 June 2000 12:10 PM

mprocureur,

Bloody Italians eh ??
Your 'super sub' Nilis doesn't look so hot. Gives the ball away like it's going out of fashion !!
I can't wait to see him playing for Aston Villa next season. D'oh !
:o)

Hmmm. Absolute c%$p from England on Monday. Cheer yourself up with this....!

WORRIED that England’s destiny might not be in the right hands? Then put your mind at ease by reading through this selection of quotes from the gaffer.

“One of his strengths is not heading.”

“He can’t speak Turkey, but you can tell he’s delighted.”

“The 33 or 34-year-olds will be 36 or 37 by the time the next World Cup
comes around, if they’re not careful.”

“There’ll be no siestas in Madrid tonight.”

“England can end the millennium as it started - as the greatest
football nation in the world.”

“They compare Steve McManaman to Steve Heighway and he’s nothing like
him, but I can see why - it’s because he’s a bit different.”

“In some ways, cramp is worse than having a broken leg.”

“Despite his white boots, he has real pace...”

“That would have been a goal if it wasn’t saved.”

“Goalkeepers aren’t born today until they’re in their late 20s or 30s.”

“The substitute is about to come on - he’s a player who was left out of
the starting line-up today.”

“The ref was vertically 15 yards away.”

“England have the best fans in the world and Scotland’s fans are second
to none.”

“The tide is very much in our court now.”

“Gary always weighed up his options, especially when he had no choice.”

“It’s like a toaster, the ref’s shirt pocket. Every time there’s a
tackle, up pops a yellow card.”

“There are two schools of thought on the way the rest of this half is
going to develop; everybody’s got their own opinion...”

“I’d love to be a mole on the wall in the Liverpool dressing room at
half-time.”

“The game has gone rather scrappy as both sides realise they could win
this match or lose it.”

“I don’t think there’s anyone bigger or smaller than Maradona.”

“I know what is around the corner. I just don’t know where the corner is.”

“You can’t do better than go away from home and get a draw.”

“.using his strength. And that is his strength, his strength.”

“I’m not disappointed - just disappointed.”

“Chile have three options - they could win or they could lose.”

“I came to Nantes two years ago and it’s much the same today, except
that it’s totally different.”

“Argentina are the second-best team in the world, and there’s no higher
praise than that.”

“A tremendous strike which hit the defender full on the arm - and it
nearly came off.”

“The good news for Nigeria is that they’re two-nil down very early in
the game.”

“That decision, for me, was almost certainly definitely wrong.”

hutton_d

please don't post such amusing stuff during works time:

I'm trying very hard not to ROFL when my boss is still in the office, he's already asked what I'm smirking at http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Great!, are they all Kev's?

Chris

Kramer 15 June 2000 09:32 PM

Brilliant hutton_d best laugh I've had for ages ,particularly the one about cramp being worse than a broken leg, as I'm sitting here with a broken ankle http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif and its bl***y killing me .

Thank god for that - beat the old enemy at last. Didn't exactly play well but what the hey !

Good quotes Mr Hutton !!
I liked the one by Allistair McGowan doing an impression of keegan..
"Commentators ? I like John Motson, he knows the score - and if he doesn't he just looks in the top corner of the screen."

hutton_d 19 June 2000 09:17 AM

Re quotes - they were forwared to me as all Kevs but you know how this internet humour is like Chinese whispers....!

Charlie - sorry about forwarding them during works time. But why are you reading them during works time.....??! [Probably like me - bored out your skull - aren't recruitement consultants crap???]

Saturadys match. Spoke to the old man Sunday (it was fathers days after all..) and said ' Crap match but at least we won'. 'Glad you said it was a crap match' he said! Sorry - but just because Shearer had his head in the right place doesn't make him worth a place!

Oooohhhh - controversy!

We'd have been slaughtered by the Italians anyway based on the last 3 performances.
5 man midfield anyone ?????????

mprocureur 21 June 2000 07:47 AM

Welcome to the loosers side along with belgium :-(

Hope the italians will beat the frenchies, if not i'm going to hear talking about the fabulous french team for weeks..... :-(

Oh well, looks like it was the English who couldn't bear to be in sunlight!

Still on the positive side:

1) We don't get humiliated by the eyties.

2) Germany got 1 point.

3) Germany finished below us.

4) We get to play Germany in our first world cup qualifier, hopefully they'll still be rubbish by then.

Are we the only country in the world not to play a striker who was leading scorer in their league? Why didn't he bring on Phillips for a bit?
