. . . so there I was on Jersey, on hols avec family (hire car so Scoobyless) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Anyway what drives past me but a Jersey registered EVO6 ! ! !

For those who don't know Jersey has 40mph MAX limit (many roads have 15 / 20 limits also) and only about 3 straight pieces of road on the whole island and not one decent bend anywhere.

What can I say?

pwebb 06 June 2000 02:30 PM

went there last year myself (booley bay) - and saw a uk spec MY 99 in the airport and an sti in st.helier within an hour of landing - also a ferrari dealer locally with a skyline R34 in the showroom - how utterly pointless.

fwiw - hire cars often have foam rubbing strips on them as the roads are so narrow in places + you will be hard pushed to use 1/2 tank of fuel in a week even if you drove all day and left the engine running at night !

running an evo or scooby on the island would make absolutely no sense at all.

'cars as status symbols' - I guess but it is rather silly - only saving grace would be buying a LHD car and taking it over to france on a regular basis - but most of the cars I saw were RHD -

btw - jersey is a despicable + tacky postage stamp sized island about as interesting as a damp day in cornwall - don't go there !

Paul,
I hope you enjoyed your hol's in Jersey. Thought i'd not seen you about. Can't say that I agree with you about the Evo 6. How about I leave mi Subaru at home one day and give you a spin in an Evo around Salford Quays just to make a change.
Regards p.g.

Paul Frank 06 June 2000 03:29 PM

PWebb:
hmm, maybe, however it was a bloody sight sunnier than the UK for the last week or so (as my sunburnt nose will testify).
Oh & it's certainly less tacky than most islands in the med . . . http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

PaulGee:
you have an EVO as well?
OK, you're on mate but will have to wait as I'm offski at the weekend for a while (Oz, H.Kong, Bejing).
More time without m'Scoob (blub!)

later

I know what you mean I went to Guernsey last year, saw loads of Scoobys, couple of Sunny GTRs, two Ferrais and a Porsche GT3. The GT3 looked lovely and as it was LHD I'm SURE he took it to France to wrang the nuts off it. Yeah right!
What a waste. I also noticed that the 2nd hand cars seemed to be really cheap over there as well.

Mark

PS Guernsey was nice by the way. Very chilled and relaxed

PAUL GEE 06 June 2000 04:24 PM

Paul,
ya bloody globe trotter!
See you when you get back. Lucky sod.

Paul Frank 06 June 2000 05:48 PM

Paul

Globe trotter? well maybe but:

1) don't get to drive m'Scoob (even my wife asked me on the flight back yesterday if I'd missed my Scooby . . very understanding - top girl eh?)
2) have to give up own time to travel the morning after my mate gets married
3) very, very unsure about the "Dragon Airways" flight to Beijing (ulp!)

Paul
ps mind you drinking all that free shampoo on the plane can be a right pain http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

hehe.. you're supposed to was your hair with that, it's part of your travel kit.. if you ask, they'll give you a real drink ! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif

Sheesh.. next you'll be eating your complimentary toothbrush..

(Although, given the airline.. you probably are better drinking the shampoo and eating the toothbrush)

Paul Frank 07 June 2000 01:23 PM

David

GREAT! SO can I eat the free socks as well? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Paul
(actually thankfully it's not a BA flight where the socks are far more edible than the food)

You think thats bad, Guernsey is even smaller and the amount of Ferraris, Scoobys and Evos I have seen there is amazing !

ChristinR if my memory is correct, I think he used to to sprints in it on the island, in the scoob anyhow

stevebt 20 March 2009 05:43 PM

The forum must be getting that bad now if people need to drag threads up from nearly 10 years ago to have a say :D:D

ChefDude 20 March 2009 06:19 PM

Driving scoobs in that place is no different from 200mph super cars being driven on our roads, surely?

Ahhhh but the roads probably won't be 'twisty' enough though ;) :lol1:

*blue eyed boy* 20 March 2009 06:31 PM

PS, yes Jersey IS rubbish, Guernsey is MUCH better

J4CKO 20 March 2009 07:25 PM

Correct me if I am wrong, but jersey isn't a penal colony and the residents are allowed to leave ?

Most of the real locals have, it's full of scousers, Irish, Poles, Latvians, Portuges and antipodeans. You rarely hear a real Jersey accent these days. A lot of signage is dual language, English and Portugues. Guernsey isn't quite as bad, the locals are in the majority, just.

AHH, I think I have it Watson!

As there are all sorts of exotic and expensive cars in Jersey, it's plausible that there's a Subaru quad or other such contraption, hence the interrogative statement.

stara 20 March 2009 08:32 PM

looks like i'll have to explain it properly.

'mysteryinc' posted a thread 'watch sbaru quad!' (https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...baru-quad.html), obviously there were lots of light hearted SIAL type replies, one of the replies linked back to the oldest thread on scoobynet, which is this one, so in a fit of madness i posted an irrelevant comment to resurrect the oldest thread, as a joke. i kind of regret it now, i have had insults and warnings.

so i apologise to all the people who have become offended and confused. sorry.

Blimey, that was a bit esoteric! :freak3::D:D:D:D

I bet you wish you hadn't bothered. At least it gave me an excuse to slag of Jersey, which is always appreciated.
