I'm looking for something to suit myself and the missus. She has owned a GPZ900 but found it a bit heavy at low speed. Personally at 6'2" I need something reasonably big - not into trailies! I quite fancy maybe a CBR900 or ZX9R, maybe a ZX6R would do the job? Previously owned a GPX750R for 5 yrs 77,000 miles - excellent machine!

Any suggestions?

At 6'2 you will be very uncomfortable on a Fireblade (probably), likewise the ZX6R.

Go and actually sit on a few, I'm 6'1 and have a Blackbird. Fit's like a glove. Also Consider Thunder Ace.

You could also look at The new ZX12R/ It all depends on what your preference is?

my dad is 6'has a '93 Ducati 750ss fits him a-ok has carbon cans on the back sounds awesome know when he is coming down the road! I sit pillian, and its not too high. (916 has tooo much of a drop on handlebars!!!!)

There's got to be a compromise somewhere.

I'm VERY biased to GSXR750s http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif SRAD seat is wide & comfortable so good for the other half, it'll out-scratch an R1 & pull nearly 170. Top reliability. Will fit 6'+ no worries (not that I'm that big!).

I've ridden a GSX750R (Whilst the owner was busy pulling wheelies on my fully laden GPX :eek http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif and wasn't really to keen on the all or nothing power delivery. The Kwackers have a nice predictable increase in Torque and Power up the rev range! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

If you want it easy, look at either a ZZR1100, Yamaha Thunder Ace Or a Blackbird.

Will out accelerate any Sports Bike, in the real world, they aren't hard work.

On my BlackBird, Power (Torque) is always available, in any gear. My bike has 150 BHP at the rear wheel, <I>(and is Approx 6Kg lighter than a Hyabusa)</I>, it just makes such easy work of it, makes for a far more progressive ride and is easier on your passenger. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Have to ask - What Model?

I'm currently running a WV (non injection) SRAD & 117.5 BHP (steady line) with a pretty flat torque line. Does the job well. Would post the printout if I had a scanner at home.

It sounds like mr tuckwood is into toury style bikes, i prefer race reps myself.

zx6r was a great fun bike and ideal for me at 5ft 9.

996 was hard work for me though as i couldnt put both feet on the floor and keep hands on the bars at the same time !

If you want a real giggle to blast around on (and dont mind looking silly) get a two stroke !

ZX6R too small? Nah, suits you sir, I'm 6'2 and 13 to 14 stone(depending on weekends activities) and my ZX6R is plenty large enough. However I did got to it from an R6, so it might just be relative. Only problem with it is screen is too low to really tuck in behind - but thats the same with all race reps nowadays, and helps keep your liscence safe too http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif . Pillion is reasonably comfortable too I'm told.

Fireblade small ???? I use one as my summer back and forth to work bike, sometimes I work 150+ miles away. Once you have rearsets fitted it is very comfortable compared with other sports bikes I own almost a tourer but you have to have the rearsets the std pegs are too far forward, Oh I'm 6'1" by the way.

Don't know if you're interested but I have just decided to sell my Fireblade CBR900RRV 1997 in red blue and white. I've owned it from new and due to lack of time has only covered 3900 miles, yes less than four thousand miles.
