well not quite. i was waiting in the middle of the road before turning right and this kid (about 11) was walking across the road i was pulling into. as i turned in he was looking at me car, so i carry on and glance into my mirror to see him still looking and walk straight into another car and fall like a sack of spuds!!!! oh what scoobies do to people....anyone had anything similar happen???

mkyboy 05 December 2002 06:05 PM

Hey!

know what you mean, Scoobys do turn heads!

Tracey 05 December 2002 06:13 PM

Yes it's funny when your in convoy too, the amount of people that stop walking just to watch you all drive by.

I occasionally pick my son up from the high school but it's quite embarrassing, all the kids walk past and say nice car, I shouldn't be embarrassed really.

Cheers

Tracey

scooby-si 05 December 2002 07:41 PM

made three ladies jump :D when the car popped and BANGED

beanchimp 06 December 2002 10:14 PM

When I first got my sport (company car 3 years ago, long gone now with over 125k on the clock)

I pulled up at home, and these kids were out playing with a RC scoob, they all stopped and come running over

I felt slightly embarresed cos I only had a sport back then, but still was good feeling

Just had 2 young lads come round carol singing, gave 'em a couple of quid for a good effort, as the left they shouted back "nice car, mate!"

They'll probably nick my wheels or something overnight, though ;)

Imprezive 06 December 2002 10:43 PM

I have two scoobs in the last 3years and had loads of looks even more since I have had the STi7UK PPP'd :D:D one is quite funny and the other got me embarresed

1 ) Driving through a street in my town center and came to a halt in traffic. My wife and daughter were watching a lad 21ish walking by, staring at our car :) but he walked straigh into a Taxi sign and landing in a big heap on the floor :D:D:D

2) I have to pick my daughter(13) up from school, but use the car park of a Large College, full of 17-22 year olds :D (I have had 20 offers of sex and 3 from girls) I have to drive under a bridge slowly, speed bumps :( 4 teenage lads start bowing at the side of the road (like I'am not worthy sort) I could feel my face start to Brass up :(

My best moment so far was tonight actually :D

I picked AJ up from the train station and took 'the detour' through a fairly long tunnel. There is a t-junction in the tunnel and I pulled out from it turning right. Put the foot down not realising the ground was near freezing. The backend swung out and she snaked (I over-corrected a few times to keep it going) about nicely and the thunder from the zorst got really loud in the enclosed environment (had the windows down). The car hit the limiter in first and with the change to second gave a nice and very loud pop/bang. It was just awsome - scooby going sideways, in a tunnel with pops and bangs :D No car has ever made me smile like that :)

Nobody else about before you all start.

davyboy 06 December 2002 11:21 PM

I remember once when I was at a set of traffic lights and a couple in a car next to me pointed at my car and laughed - its fate was sealed.

Best thing about owning a Scoob is that it means I am not Phil Deane from Channel 4s Faking It - he has a Fiesta - PML!

My most memorable was on a run home from Crail dragstrip, about a dozen bikers came flying up behind me, all 'G'd up from watching the racing. Five "brisk" miles later ;) when we came across a small town, they all filed past me one at a time and gave me/the car the thumbs up and approving nods, apart from the R1 who wheelied past and gave me the finger :D :D :D

scooby_si 06 December 2002 11:54 PM

kids always give the burble a thumbs up. Probably 1 of the funniest i recall woz when there were about half a dozen scoobs parked up at in a car park where was an natioanl auto test event in & we were just chattin away when this youngster walked by hand in hand with old man kinda thing & he was wearing a subaru cap. He nearly fell over taking his dad with him when he turned 2 the side 2 see a line of the beasties ;) followed by a "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD look scoobies" kinda thing :D

The best part for me, is the father and son factor.

Sorry if I sound like an old fart or a caring parent or whatever, but since the latest addition to the family arrived, the males in the house have been doing some serious bonding.

I go anywhere near outdoor footwear and the little fella is there wanting to go with me. I gotta go to the shop for a bottle of ketchup, he's there. I need to get some nails for that shelf in the bathroom? He's there. He KNOWS that a 1 kilometre trip usually takes about an hour or more...so he's up for the ride :)

We go down the road and he can spot a scooby/evo/supra/GTI V6/Alfa/BMW quicker than I can...only people he'll want me to flash/wave at are the scoobs...no interest in the rest. I think it's the scoop that does it. Little guy has good taste !

Really makes his (our) day when we get a wave back...so here's a shout out to all those who wave/flash back (wherever you are).

THAT'S what having a scoob is all about.

Crush 07 December 2002 12:22 AM

I had a clown waving to me on the Forth Road Bridge  :D That was sooo cool :D

He must have thought I was one of his clown buddies or something  :D

Katana 07 December 2002 01:34 AM

I drive to uni with my scoobs everyday. You guys can figure out the rest. ;)

ianfergus0n 07 December 2002 08:01 AM

I was took a visit to IKEA one Saturday Morning, I arrived early and the Car park was fairly empty, I trundled down to the front only to see that there was another scooby parked up, so naturally I parked next to him allowing for the obligatory .5 car park space between us ;) 1 hr later walking back on to the carpark I see a crowd of people a police car and 2 flat caps all milling around where my car was parked...... Heart in mouth by this time, my pace increased unil I was almost running, it turned out that we had got a mini show, 4 Scoobys, 1 ev0 4, 1 evo6, 1 skyline, 1 nissan GTiR and a westie (f@!K knows how he was going to get anything home in that ;) ) the coppers were just there in a spectators capacity.

BIG GRIN FACTOR :D :D :D :D

Bexlee 07 December 2002 09:00 AM

Funniest was when I parked in a town centre & left my Grannie (who is in her late 70s) in the Scoob while I got a parking ticket from the machine about 50 yds away. I thought she might be quite uncomfortable as people literally stopped and stared, but she quite liked the experience.

The rest of the day was spent booting it around some excellent N Yorks roads at a pace that would have got Mrs Bexlee's arm's flapping- but all that Gran said was, 'it overtakes well, doesn't it!' All good fun :D

R.B.5 07 December 2002 10:16 AM

I get loads of attention in mine too :D :D :D

Funniest thing recently was when i went into Cardiff Shopping. I had 2 people in different shops ask me if i was a rally driver (had my heavyweight Subaru coat on). lol i went kinda red and said no but i wish i was with a big grin.

The scoob never ceases to amaze me with the attention it grabs. Mostly from younger people. When i drive through town late at night, all i can hear is people shouting "SCOOOOBY" and waving, all pi$$ed up like! Makes me laff. :) I work in a comprehensive school and when i firrst bouht the car go in went to go home via school exit and was confronted with practically the whole school. They surrounded the car and i couldn't go anywhere. Was embarrest/worried and a bit pleased all at the same time. Needless to say i bounced the car off the rev limiter which got them to move along nicely :D :D lol

Jonto 07 December 2002 11:59 AM

Probably drifting off a roundabout on the A34 and leaving a rwd cossie and RS Focus for dead down the dual carrage way ! :D

mista weava 07 December 2002 12:44 PM

living on the isle of wight - we have a very small communtiy of car modders. it is satisfying for me as i am always getting reports back about what the local lads have to say on my car. as i am one of the few scoob owners over here, they know all of them and sort of discuss the cars and the drivers. funniest was when i was in a bar and overheard some lad mention my name - sort of like he's my mate or something! turned round and said" oh right you know weava?"
bloke goes "ah yeah mate his motors well quick"
i was like "i'm weava!"

made him look a dick in front of his mates - acting like he knew me! lol

looked blo0dy sheepish and stumbled his words a bit!

LG John 07 December 2002 01:18 PM

p1 tud 07 December 2002 06:50 PM

a wee boy asking me "is that cor faster than a lamburgeeny, bet ye it iz"

Marky-San 07 December 2002 08:27 PM

First day I got the car, did the usual volunteering to drive anywhere for no reason what so ever. Drove into local asda car park past the local yobs only to hear one of them shout 'its an Impreza!!' <cue paranoia and immediate car jacking scenario running through my mind>.

They came over looking at the car, and asking me loads of questions. Needless to say that every now and then someone shouts/waves/jumps out on the road(!!) and always been these guys. Makes you feel quite smug when people do that.

Best part was having a local traffic officer wave to me as I past. Mind you hes known me through all the cars I've owned. Nice though - he knows I'm not an idiot like the masses of Strathclyde parks boy racing contingent..

Hol 07 December 2002 09:07 PM

My Five Year old told me his friend said he had the 'Coolest Dad in the street' :) I assume its cos of the car?

Other thing I notice is loads of 10yr olds want to stop and talk to you. worst thing is when they ask you to wheel spin away (the 4wd concept dont compute at that age). :D

IanW 07 December 2002 09:12 PM

when they ask you to wheel spin away
I have had that too

naughtybutnice 07 December 2002 09:17 PM

I was delivering for work last week in my94 wrx wagon (fast bread!!!), and was going to a very expensive country lodge, near windermere, and when i pulled into the drive there was a well sporty jag (the new type, cant remember the model, xk?), anyway, went into the kitchens to drop off the bread, came out and this bloke (about 65) was well lookin over my scoob, and he said "ahhh, that is a lovely fruity sound your car makes... subaru, impreza...would love to have one but my wife insists on buying british!"
made me blip it for him as well, and a quick look under the bonnet!!
He shakes my hand ,then jumps back into his £60k jag!!!
quality, a scoob isnt just for christmas, A SCOOB IS FOR LIFE!!!
:) :) :)(:)
