just a quick question for anyone...
I have a UK Turbo 2000awd, first registered on 20th November 1998. So I was under the impression I have a MY98, but then some people say its a MY99. Is this correct? If its a MY99, that means I have about 215bhp standard as opposed to 208bhp - right???...

Most noticable difference is the front bumper; if it has little orange brake vents under the indicators then it's a MY99. If it has long horizontal front indicators with two similar slats below it's a MY98.

It's possible for a MY99 to be registered in 1998.

could get chassis number checked to confirm for you if willing to send.

Mine is an MY99. First registered on 14/12/1998.

my MY95 is/was first registered Nov 94. MY95 model year was from Sep '94 to Aug '95. if the same guide applies to later cars then your car being november '98 registered would be an MY99 model. does that make sense?

MY's (Model Year) change in Sept in the UK.(Until the bugeye screwed it up);)

My scoob was registered last year in July but is a classic shape (MY00), had lots of fun with the insurance company who were convinced that I had a Bugeye, because on there system it was a MY01.

That's 'cos they go by the date of registration not the date of manufacture.

As well as checking to see if it has a different bumper, or headlights etc the definative way is to check out the plate inside the engine bay on the passenger side strut tower. There will be an APPLIED MODEL CODE.

For the UK model 4 door MY98 this will be GC8FK8D and for the 4 door MT99 it will be GC8GK8D. The fourth digit give the model year. ie F=1998, G=1999.

Just open the bonnet ;)
If its a phase 2 engine (which an MY99 will be) then it will have a little rubber plug sticking out of (near the centre) of the engine, crystal effect lights (inc fogs) and 4 pot brakes.
An MY98 will have a phase 1 engine (which does look alittle different), 2 pot brakes and non-crystal lights. (plus isnt the intercooler different?)
