Is Rye House as in Rye House in Essex err I mean Hertfordshire or somewhere else?

I am a mechanic for a kart team and we were only down at Rye House a few weeks ago. Apparently Deavisons have a couple of Rotax Max 125cc two-strokes. If you prove yourself in the regular four-stroke put-puts they will allow you to go out in the Max. I can tell you from a few test sessions in our teams Rotax Max karts that they are blindingly quick and 10 times better then the regular arrive-and-drive four-stroke karts. Give it a go I dare you!?!

yes please, rye is easy for me.

both rye and buckmore are rather tight and twisty though, so you may be better off elsewhere if you don't like that sort of thing.

*that* Rye House is fine for me. I'm up for it. :) What does a team consist of BTW? - I've never done this before...

Guys (and Gals)

It's been a while since we had a Kart meeting. I wonder if people would be interested in a endurance Kart race in, say, Jan or Feb at Whilton Mills or Rye House.

Just trying to gauge interest at the moment so please respond....

Typically we would need to have 15 + Teams to make it viable. I'm prepared to organise it if there is enough interest.

Cheers

Josh

Lunchie 03 December 2002 01:11 PM

I would be up for it.

If you have a choice, I'd recommend Whilton Mills - its a great v. grippy circuit. Its in Northants, just off the M1.

Dave T-S 03 December 2002 01:12 PM

Yep, i'm up for it, and weather permitting I will turn up this time

Let's make it Rye House for a change:)

Jeff Wiltshire 03 December 2002 01:23 PM

One vote each for Whilton & Rye

The other choices are Buckmore Park (expensive) or Bayford Meadow...

Rotax Max are OK but I prefer 4-Strokes (we did a season in the Club 100 2-Stroke 100cc karts) like the Biland, EcoMotor or Honda RS360....

Jeff

davyboy 03 December 2002 01:32 PM

One more for Whilton - I could walk to it then.

mutant_matt 03 December 2002 01:37 PM

I'd probably be up for Feb @ Rye House!

Matt :)

Hoppy 03 December 2002 02:01 PM

Whilton Mill please :)

Richard.

Jeff Wiltshire 03 December 2002 02:20 PM

Whilton Mill is Pro-Karts (2 x 200cc) nice circuit OK facilities
Rye House is thunderkarts (1 x 390cc) nice circuit (crap surface) and good facilities.

Choices .....!

Flyboy-F33 03 December 2002 02:27 PM

Probably the best kart track in the UK is at Thruxton Airfield, all new circuit with nice buildings and newish karts. (Just for your info). Only trouble is its outdoor.

Jeff Wiltshire 03 December 2002 02:31 PM

And it's a 1 line track with virtually no oppurtunity to overtake ...which is why the number of people turning up for their open races has fallen from 28-30 per race to 5........

Jeff

ARRON BIRD 03 December 2002 03:42 PM

YES

Jeff Wiltshire 03 December 2002 03:47 PM

I make that 7 interested people.....

Fat Boy 03 December 2002 03:55 PM

yep, Rye House please

Jeff Wiltshire 03 December 2002 04:07 PM

Spoken to Rye House

3hr Endurance race - £190 per team (Winter discount)

Available dates are

19th Jan
26th Jan
1st Feb
2nd Feb
15th Feb
23rd Feb

I've asked for the 10am to 3pm slot (the whole event takes about 5 hrs).

I will have to front up £500 deposit and we will need a minimum of 12 Teams.

I need to know peoples preference on date and how many teams ......If there is a sufficient interest (8-9 teams) then I'll book the event.

Cheers
