I think I've got a problem with my Road Angel (bought in the group buy last week) and was wondering if anyone else had experienced a similar problem, or had any suggestions as to what to do.

Ok, this is roughly what's happened over the last week:

Monday
Received the item. Updated with the latest database. Put the unit in the car - locked onto 4 satellites within 5 minutes and I was away.

Tuesday
Again, locked onto 4-5 satellites within seconds.

Wednesday
Ditto

Thursday
Again, same

Friday
Wouldn't lock onto any satellites for about 10 minutes. Then seemed ok.

Saturday
Again, wouldn't lock onto any satellites for about 15 minutes. Once locked on, the speed shown was between 150-200mph!!!! wtf???? A unit power-off then on again seemed to fix it. This was lunch time.
Went out again in the early evening - no lock at all. Drove for about 40 minutes and nothing.

Sunday
Drove 120 miles, to Hull and back, and the whole time - nothing. Just --- mph in the display. 0 satellites registered.

I followed all the instructions in the booklet to the letter. I've even left the unit plugged into the mains overnight to try and charge up the internal battery.

I'm considering seeing if I can return the unit for a swap-out.

Anyone else experienced anything similar, please?

I had the mega-speed showing an odd time - pulling the power sorted this one but it got a bit worrying for a while :(

Haven't had the lock-on problems as you've had. It took a few mins first time and now takes approx 30 secs each time.

How's it going trying to link to the web and update it? I have grief with it not connecting up virually every time and have to mess around with the serial cable between ports most times :( I've only updated it a couple of times b4 major trips into the "unknown" due to the hassle factor of getting it to work.

The updates seem to work fine. I've had it sat on the roof of the car for an hour tonight, and still no lock on :(

I'll telephone BlackSpot tomorrow.
