Has anyone been quoted a fitting charge for any WR accessories that they've had fitted onto their P1?
My dealer wants £180.00 to fit 18" wheels and uprated brakes. I'd think that given the extras come to 3.5K, he could see his way clear to fitting them for free. Is he taking the mick? AGAIN! |
Tell him you've found someone esle that'll do it for free an give you 10% of the product cost.
If there was one thing I learnt from my mother.. it was "never pay retail!!" And it works! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif |
Kurt,
I believe the recommended fitting time for the Prodrive brake kit is one hour (according to their brochure). To do this they have to put the car up on the ramps, and take the two front wheels off. The 18 inch wheels and tyres will come as a complete package from prodrive, already balanced etc, so all they need to do is fit the 18 inch wheels back on in their place. Swapping over the two rear wheels, shouldn't take more than about 10 minutes at most, including checking pressures and torquing up the wheel nuts by hand. I would suggest that you present some of this information to your dealer, and if you don't get any satisfaction, then take your business elsewhere. Many dealers would be more than happy to offer you some discount for being an SIDC member, and either agree to fit them for free, or for a nominal charge. |
Dear All
Thanks for all the support I've received - once again. Upon quoting the dealer that I can get a better deal elsewhere, they've given me a 10% discount on the parts - ie. £400 off. RESULT! If anyone wants details of the dealer, please feel free to e-mail me. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif |
Kurt,
A couple of us managed to wring a 10% discount out of dealer for P1 WR bits. However, I'm being charged £380 to fit the seats, spots, and wheels. Apparently, the seats need to be assembled and wiring looms run...4hrs work! Hmmm. Right. Andy |
