One permanent solution is to remove the heat shield altogether, but be careful parking in long grass!!

i have got a rattel on the exhaust! heat shield i have been told? 3 dealers have solved the problem for about 2 days, is there a perminent solution! i need a dealer that can sort it!! yourkshire area, i will travel to get it sorted turbo 98

Yes, be very careful parking in long grass.

When in long grass, the risk of attack from Tigers is far higher once the heat shield is removed. (I Must keep a hat on when out in the sun in future).

Heat shield is likely to be cracked. Replace with a new one and get dealer to put in a 3mm spacer-should do the trick! Do not let dealer try to weld it, as it is stainless steel and will not last.

If you are talking about the long heat shield on the pipe, then a jubilee clip is a better solution than welding as it has a bit of 'give' with the expansion and contraction of the pipe.
