I have a multi region player.

Often R1 has the better soundtrack.

Want to buy both Spiderman and Episode II.

Which version and/or region is supposed to be better for these titles?

I wouldn't bother, Spiderman was AWFUL!!!

R2 SW Episode 2 has a DTS soundtrack which works well.

Does it? My R2 Episode 2 only has Dolby 5.1.

and mine, dts should be standard!

If it's region 2 it should be Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX.

I almost always buy all the 'new' DVDs in Region 1 (from www.dvdboxoffice.com). I tend to only by Region 2 if the stuff is in a sale, eg; HMV sales, or used ones (great little record/cd/dvd shop near me selling used DVD's some absolute bargins in there!)

Why R1? well, stuff out earlier, ususally DTS track, plus sometimes more features than R2, plus sometimes not as cut as R2 (eg BBFC cutting headbutts and suchlike). Plus there are some things on R1 that you just cannot get on R2 for love nor money.

Apologies everyone, yep, it is DD 5.1 EX *not* DTS for the R2 disc. Had to check to be sure as it sounds as good as a DTS disc.

In fact, the DTS light comes on on my amp. so I'm not 100% sure as it says it is decoding 3/3 Dolby Digital. I'll have to read the manual after all ;)
