Just a quickie for you I.T bods.Im thinking of going into Firewall internet security,and was wondering a) Is this a good idea and b) wheres the best place to get training,and what sort of course should I look out for.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

It in general is not good at the moment. Anyone else had there bonus / rate cut over the last few weeks.

Security was a very good area to be in around two years ago. Since then loads of people have jumped on the bandwagon and only the real good established people / companies survive.

As orbv says, the whole IT industry is not as buoyant as it was a few years ago. The main market for security are the dot.com companies which seem to be rapidly dwindling.

If it is job satisfaction you want to get into security for then go for it, it is a constant battle between you and the hackers trying to get one step in front all of the time. Probably one of the better paying sectors of IT at the moment as well.
