JonnyT 26 November 2002 03:47 AM

Today I went to see a Mica BLACK (Wahoo!) WRX that is up for sale locally...
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!
It's an oldie (K Reg) and not immaculate (Front bumper needs respraying) but is well loved by it's current owner, who I mus say is one of the nicest blokes I have ever met!!
He took me up the road in it, and asked if I wanted to drive it back! Too dam right!!! :D
It was sooooooooooo nice!! Now i truly understand how u manage to talk about ur cars ALL the time! Lol.
Anyways...All going well I'll pick it up Thursday!!
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPA!!!
Sorry if this is uninteresting, I just had to tell someone and I'm wanting to suprise my mates!! :)

OLD-DOG 26 November 2002 04:05 AM

A week, 6 months..............nothing! I've been waiting for 3 years and guess what...............I still am. (feekin houses)

dnb 26 November 2002 10:58 AM

I bought mine, and then had to get my father in law to drive it home, as my old insurance company wouldn't cover me for the last week of my policy!!

As people have said - be careful, and have fun!

Jen 26 November 2002 12:40 PM

Ahhh...I remember! Unfortuanly mine was with a dealer who had scared me half to death by powersliding around a roundabout in a 30mph zone in the town centre in the middle of rush hour...I crawled back at 40mph shaking...needless to say we didn't buy the car!

The second was in our scoob we have now, only the owners were body building champions and let us take it out on our own  Again, I was terrifed!!

However, I'll never forget the first run down the by-pass in my own scoob...fantastic... The grin will never stop and it sounds like a good car...enjoy :D

Jen

P.S. DON'T come off the power going around corners!! Repeat after me: Slow in, fast out ;):D

Colin P 26 November 2002 01:00 PM

P.S. DON'T come off the power going around corners!! Repeat after me: Slow in, fast out
I hope everyone here realises this isn't just a scooby thing! Don't lift of suddenly in any car  The scooby isn't too bad for it anyway, try a VTS (especially the MK1) on for size

I remember my first drive of a scooby was a little spoiled by the hype :(

speedking 26 November 2002 01:27 PM

Or try this:

Fast in, even faster out ;)

mista weava 26 November 2002 01:37 PM

jonny t

nice one mate, you will love it despite the savage running costs.

remember the awe of driving mine home from Liskeard (cornwall) to plymouth. on my own and just could not believe it was mine, just kept breaking into feverish laughter, followed by reality check as a whiff of throttle sent it forwards with a great force, i just could not believe it!

was shaking for approx an hour after getting to my friends cafe, where lots of other friends were lurking. created alot of interest and comments. shell shocked is a word!

i wish every day could be so good!

The Boy 26 November 2002 01:49 PM

Ok call me a jessie but the first night I had mine I was to scared to drive it. ( Feb 2002 )

Was'nt only considerably quicker than my last car but was also alot more expensive and imagined sitting in a ditch on my first real drive.

PS
Don't worry. After a couple of valium I can get now it down the shops.;)

MelTypeR 26 November 2002 01:54 PM

Beware of Fuel Cut.:)

lpski1 26 November 2002 02:15 PM

I have had my MY00 turbo since 18th Oct. I had to drive it back from Leicester to London, i was a little shocked to begin with, but i had to get used to it pretty quick as i was following my mate in his MY98 Turbo, and he wasnt taking it easy, i didnt want to get lost down the A6, its been a hole bundle of fun so far and i dont stop grinning when i get in it.

LG John 26 November 2002 04:17 PM

Why would fuel cut be a problem unless he increased the boost?

S13DUG 26 November 2002 05:28 PM

Hi Colin, sending your spoiler out tomorrow, y0u should have it in a couple of days, still waiting for mine to arrive? so at the moment i am spoilerless.
cheers, Dug.
back on thread , hope you enjoy your new car m8. i know you will.
Dug.

Steve Fort 26 November 2002 06:49 PM

I remember driving my first scooby home. I was slightly dissapointed, must've been because of the hype and i was expecting to be blown away. Strangely they seem more impressive, the more you get used to driving them. You'd have thought it would be the other way around.
First drive in my P1 was something else though........WOW!:D:D:D

Remember though, never underestimate the power of scooby! The moment you get to cocky and think your the king of the road, it'll turn round and bite yer arse off.

Enjoy mate, once bitten, forever smitten!:)

They're really good round CORNERS:p:p:p:D

My drive home after buying was frustrating as my girlfriend was following me and didn't know the way so I couldn't loose her....
Loving every minute behind the wheel since, I would sell my gran for a tank of go go juice!!!!!!!

Dug cheers mate can't wait till the parcel turns up....

JonnyT 26 November 2002 09:47 PM

Lol @ ALL ur tales of "the first drive".

Not collecting it until NEXT wednesday now, My work and Him away for weekend making things poop!! But only ONE week so still smiling!! Gives me a chance to order all the bits in so I can just get them fitted as soon as I pick her up!! :D:D:D (My Girlfriends idea!!!) :D

Won't be at Pease Pottage this weekend consequently, as my Mk2 Golf GTi with it's 007 Stylee smokescreen is getting more embaressing as the days go by!! Lol.

But next month....I'm there for definate! If there is one!?
5th Jan?

Cheers All,
Jon

JamieMacdonald 27 November 2002 12:29 AM

When I picked my Scoob up my Dad had to drive it back as I wasn't yet insured on it. I was following him home and all that was going through my head was "I can't believe it's mine" and "look at the size of that exhaust" and "Slow down Dad, I can't keep up!" (in my modded MKII Golf GTI16V!!!)
After we got home I said to my Dad: "Were you trying to lose me or something?!" and with a big grin he told me he'd hardly taken it over 4k rpm :D:D:D
Never looked back since and even over a year later when I really open her up, it still suprises me and I think "Fook me - it just went like fookin' sh1t off a shovel" ;)

Enjoy it mate, I know you will.

J

Steve Fort 27 November 2002 12:37 AM

Best thing about a scoob - You can be in a real sh1t mood, just lost your job, shot yer wife, or something worse, and as soon as you get into your car, you cheer up......and as soon as your nail it through 2nd and 3rd and get pushed back in your seat, like you do, all your troubles have gone, and you're grinning like a cheshire cat!! What else can give you that feeling!:D:D:D

Imprezive 27 November 2002 12:57 AM

Steve F,
Never a truer word has a man spoken...!

makes me wana get up in morning just for the drive to work, then i wana drive straight home again, lol.

One of the proudest moments in my life when I got my 1st scoob - the sales guy said that he doesn't like to sell his cars to people who don't appreciate them - so was quite taken aback by that (even if it was sales chat)

I wonder if he thought the same when I left tyre marks on the exit from his garage.

Gav 27 November 2002 10:36 AM

jonny t,

nice one mate, only had mine about a month. still get a big grin on my face everytime i start her up!!!! don't forget the slow in fast out, trust me its very true......

enjoy...

Avril 27 November 2002 10:47 AM

I've had my first Scoob for 6 months and I still have to take a few seconds, when I get in or out of it, to let it sink in that it's actually mine.

Enjoy, mate! :D
