Where have they all gone? In the 70's there were loads around. Early ones were a darker blue - later ones 1970MY on were lighter blue. Haven't seen one for years - are there any parked outside your home Mr Lewis?

People round here donated theirs to the local Chicken Sanctuary, they make EXCELLENT chicken houses - Fibre-Glass and all, they STILL look good now!! Shame I cant buy one now as they were my dream car in 1979 when I was 50 - so, alas, I ended up with the second best - The Impreza Turbo!! :D

Have just found a dedicated site - they were called invacars - and there are still 200 in use today- apparently.

Reliant did the Robin, 3 wheelers, I'm sure the invlaid things were complety different though... weren't they limted to 40mph or summat? There is still one in near me in Ilkley, looks like the guys pride n joy!:D

They WERE made by TVR!! Quite correct - thats why they kept breaking down

The true story of the three wheeler's demise?
I was working with a bloke about a year ago and he used to be big in the fibreglass industry, he owned a company that made bathroom stuff etc. When he mixed in that world, lucky man, he knew the blokes that made the fibreglass little blue noddy cars. Several had been involved in accidents and the handling was thought to be a bit suspect. In order for production to continue the cars, if you can call them that, the roadworthyness had to be proved to the ministry. Duno which one. So the men from Whitehall, or wherever turned up to the test track and this blokes mate said 'No problems safe as houses these' and lept into the three wheeled beast and put it through its paces. Unfortunately it ended up on its side it bits And from that day the things were no longer built. I saw one today in Brighton, the first on I saw for years. |
bet they burn up crap scoobs
