I was reding a thread the other night about someone who has painted their calipers Red  with white lettering. Does anyone remember which thread it was. Showed some pictures as well.

Mentioned how he painted the lettering after a night out on the beer and hands were shaking:D

Thanks in advance if anyone recalls it.

Don't do it would be my advice. Too Escort Turbo/XR3/Nova/GTI

Hi Dan,

What paint did you use, proper caliper paint or just heat resistant metal paint. I did a car a few yrs ago with proper stuff but if you don't do it all in a couple of days after mixing it goes off. I did me last car with car plan heat resistant paint 3-4 coats just as good, and then now and again stick another coat on, dead cheap too.

Also when you painted them did you take out the pads and disconnect the caliper or, paint them carefully while they were in place.

Cheers for any help.

Brake caliper paint in various colours available from Halfords.

ScoobyJawa 21 November 2002 11:08 AM

I used the Foliatek stuff from Halfords - about 20 quid.

Its a bit fiddly but not too bad. The red with silver lettering looks superb on my DGM scoob (mines the one in the link in dans post) with silver alloys.

also see here

The main reason for painting mine is I was aware the callipers were in a bad way, and were corroding, so I used the paint to get a protective coating on them. You can see the bad pitting in the link above.......

cheers
Neil.

try motorbike tyre name paint pens, they are available in white gold and silver, i used red hammerite and the silver pen and it looks ace, hope this helps ya.

dhorwich 21 November 2002 07:20 PM

I used halfords high temperature paint, and carfully painted them while they where on the car... and gave it a couple of coats....
