I had a set off pirelli P7000's fitted to my STi V a year ago, not done that many miles (4500) but the car is really getting bad at tramlining, is this a common effect with these tyres or a tyre pressure problem???

I have a similar problem with Pzero's. I thought the tracking needed adjustment, but my local dealer said it was spot on !

camber checked recently??
we have found a number of vehicles with similiar problems to have camber either out of adjustment or sometimes minor damage due to kerbing, etc.
lots of places check tracking, but most don't have facility to check camber........

excuse my ignorance on this one but i thought tracking was the same as camber, have to say that i had it checked 12 months ago when i bought it & have not smacked any kerbs & the tramlining effect is quite severe (2 handed sometimes)now the tyres are wearing down.??

no they are not the same, in very basic terms.......
tracking is how much the wheels "toe" in or out from the front of the car
camber is how much the top of the wheel leans in or out in relation to the strut

205 section tyres and wider are gonna pick the tram lines up.
Even with poly bushes it'll tram line, but not so much.
Getting your wheels aligned helps also.

Just one of those things.

GTB Ltd is right - large low profile tyres will always tend to suffer tramlining. I did have 18" Pzeros on my car (MY01) and they tramlined like crazy (after 5000 or 6000 miles) - even after proper geometry setup by Powerstation (Eibachs fitted at the same time). I've now got S03s on the car - not only have they lasted much better that the Pzero's - there is considerably less tramlining. It has occured as the fronts have worn down, but swapping the tyres around has almost stopped it and the tyres have now done nearly 15000 miles.

I've just replaced my OEM Bridgestones with Goodyear F1's and what was a quite serious case of tramlining has all but gone away now.

Same pressures, same roads, etc.

I did find with the OEM tyres that reducing the pressure reduced the tramlining effect a bit.
