Before I spend hours d/loading Service Packs
Any probs with W2K SP3 - or stick with SP2? Any probs with Exch 2000 SP3? Ta mucho :D |
Haven't experienced any problems with W2K SP3 here.

Crikey - that was quick Mark
Had a gulp of coffee & looked back... :) |
Actually, if you look at the list of known issues with sp3, you may well think twice, as it is huge! Saying that, I have been using it since it came out with no problems bar a small printing issue with Terminal Service users which was quickly resolved my Microshaft.
Cheers, Nick :) |
Exchange SP3 can be a bit of a problem.
When I installed it here it left my database compressed so it wouldn't load. Uncompressed it and it went fine. There is an awful lot of newsgroup reports of problems as well. IRIS and IPS applications can have a problem with W2K SP3 so check first. Cheers, Phil |
Obviously depends where you are deploying it within your environment. For what its worth we have SPK3'd all of our Win2K Pro desktops without any troubles.

Mines ok to be honest aswell.
had a few boot up issues, but that was Norton Si |
In a production enviroment, I would not install a service pack unless it fixed specific issues. *Don't* install one if it's a "nice" or "fun" thing to do.
But if you do, take a FULL backup before proceeding. In saying all this, the only problem I've had is W2K SP3 blue screening over an installed instance of Dell Array OpenManage. Nae bother with Ex2K SP3. (Drinking on Microsoft's expense at the moment in Copenhagen :D, :D, :D) |
Had no problems here either Puff....
Clustered Servers running fine, along with clients... |
I had problems I originally had Sp2 on and updated to Sp3, no problems at all. Then I had to reinstall and I put Sp3 straight on, it wouldnt boot, 'inaccessible boot device' stop error. As I couldnt get on the net to find out a fix, I had to repair, then put Sp2 on first then Sp3 after. Then it was fine. Good job I had Sp2 + 3 on CD ;) feckin MS.
