Sorry if I am repeating a past post but does this happen to anyone else or has it in the last couple of days?

It has been okay for an hour but chat seems to aggravate it.......

Cheers,

Michelle.

Michelle

When you say "crash" do you mean it hangs?
Mine seems to sometimes give a fatal memory crash when I click on a page link and my PC powers off http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif only happens on S/Net

Oh and yeah pages sometime take forever to load up aswell.

I do apologise for not clarifying - yes the pages take ages to load and then slowly one by one freeze and give an error message, yet as soon as they crash, it loads straight back up again http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/confused.gif and then repeats the cycle.

Of course it is very annoying when typing longer than one sentence posts and losing them http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif

Anyone else experienced this?

Cheers,

Michelle.

I get the similar type of problem but a lot greater when running SN. SN hangs in the background and then takes other open windows down with it slowly.

Problem eased when I upped memory from 128Mb to 384Mb but it still happens every so often. I either get this or the screen just freezes and needs a reboot (have you noticed how the scandisk screen accuses you of the fault when it's locked up itself http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif - smug m*cr*s*ft g*ts)

Any ideas for a cure? I used to think that the pc was falling over having to shunt so much data around to keep up with the new posts / counts etc gooing on in the background when you switched threads etc (muppet section especially 'Chelle http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif )

Yes scandisk really annoys me http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Don't you go blaming this on my muppetting http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Sounds like you are all in need of a good system clean up to me.

It's no help whatsoever but mine runs fine, never crashes or goes slow on SN at all http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif (unless SN is down http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif )

Just wipe your PC and reinstall everything. There's probably loads of crap in your registry that will slow it down.....

Now that would be impressive - if it's her new PC, then she's only had three weeks or so!

Hanslow 07 October 2001 08:38 PM

Maybe it ain't that then http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Unless all that muppeteering has already worn it out http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Or, it was badly set up to start with http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/confused.gif I've seen some naffly set up systems in my time.

I always wipe any new PC after first checking it works. Get rid of all the factory kak that they image onto it. I've even seen PCs dumped with the wrong system drivers for the hardware in the machine http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

Ian

leave the CCNA, Compaq ASE in the sig but I'd keep quiet about the MCSE - it will pull you down http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Chill dude http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif I knew if I wrote something like that I would be treading on toes http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

Must have been someone sneaking in and messing it up on purpose then http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif (he says quickly backtracking http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif)

No qualifications, just a geek http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Should that be Compaq ARSE ? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif

ChrisB 08 October 2001 03:29 PM

I've heard there's a project going on to train a monkey to pass the MCSE exams http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
