So why would anybody pay uk retail price, for an impreza.

Any Ideas........................?

Can't be trade in value, cos we all know it wont have one in three years!

Cant be warranty!

Perhaps it's that you pay an importer the deposit and they put the price up, then run of with your final payment never to be seen again.

Answers welcome as I have no real idea

"Perhaps it's that you pay an importer the deposit and they put the price up, then run of with your final payment never to be seen again."

Is possibly one reason, but doesn't apply to car supermarkets.
I think the main reason has to be the official dealers ability to take PXs, albeit for derisory amounts.
It is often a major trauma trying to sell a car privately even for under the 'book price', if you bank on doing so you run the risk of being out of pocket for possibly months. The chances of selling it in the same week that you pick up your new car are often very slim indeed.
