I was out last night, 2 friends have a trick that is fantastic, but they won't tell anyone how they do it! - does anyone know?, cos it's doing my head in trying to work it out! Heres the trick:

one of them asks random girly ;) to think of a famous person, and whisper it to him, the other guy is well out of earshot at this point.
other guy coes back, and the guy she's whispered it to goes through a routine of telling him to focus, he snaps his fingers a certain number of times (never more than 7/8 usually) and moves his hands up and down, and the other guy gets it, every time!

Heres the tricky part, i was watching, looking for some sort of code in the finger clicks, or the hand movements, and there isn't anything i could work out. e.g. if someone came up with a long name like jennifer aniston, it still didnt take more than 7/8 clicks. It's very cleverly done, and theres definitely no mouth movements or microphones involved.
They could'nt do this trick without the finger snapping.

Anyone help??! :D

can't help but i saw a super pub trick once that I still can't figure out.

guy smoking a real cig, 3/4 finished. makes on of his hands into a fist but slightly open (like they do when stuffing handkerchief into fist etc.) and then drops the cig into that hand!!!! opens hand, cig nowhere to be seen. Guy had short sleeves, and the cig did not hit the floor (i was looking ;)).
Anyone explain that one???!! (or even the disappearing handkerchief while we're at it!

the hand is quicker than the eye!

Maybe the girly is a plant?

merkin 15 November 2002 11:35 AM

girl definitely not a plant, as trick was tried on about 15 people last night, in 3 different bars! :D

Merkin - mate at work does that trick. Hard to explain in writing, but here goes.
They basically indicate how many words are in the answer or whether they will spell out the first or second name. Dunno if everyone does it the same way too.

It's what is said before the clicking that matters and the emphasis on the words. So the clicks are picking out letters from what is said before. So if they say "is it a MALE STAR?" click (pause) click means the first letter of the first word is right and click-click (pause) click means second word - second letter.
Nightmare to explain - and a very impressive trick.
You more confused now  :D

thats easy you spanner:

he has flesh colured rubber glove end, whis he puts in his fist, pokes the cigar inside and the rubber stays on his finger!!!!

my god!!

cheers Father Jack, I assumed it was along those lines somewhere,
I'm dying to find out exactly, it's one hell of an impressive party trick :D

Dracoro 15 November 2002 11:45 AM

But he dropped the cigarette from a few inches above, then opened his hand a few secs later, nothing there.

what's this flesh rubber glove? is that how the handkerchief one is done? (a cigarette would melt rubber gloves!)

Or am I missing something big here?

beemerboy 15 November 2002 11:52 AM

no, its like a rubber glove finger, but a bit more heavy duty.

it is a good trick though, my old boss used to do it, thats how i know.

sorry, i didnt explain it properly

but imaging stubbing the cigar out, as you push your finger into it....

bb;)

I think I'm with you now. but can you explain how the rubber stays on his finger? how does he avoid the audience seeing this?

beemerboy 15 November 2002 12:03 PM

you can see it if you look, but as people are focused on looking for the cigar, they dont see it.

i'll see if i can find one on the web..
