Funny question I know - but does anyone know the weight of a 16" alloy wheel plus tyre ? Roughly ? In Kg's ?

Thanks

Ro.

Bloody heavy. I weighed the old ones off my car at 39.5lbs per corner (just under 18Kgs). This is with Bridgestone S-01s.

I'm afraid that I don't know the weight with tyres, but the 4 standard MY98 16" wheels I shipped a while ago were around the 30-32Kg mark including packaging.

Finding a tyre to weigh shouldn't be too hard.

SIDC faq says 16kg for 16in, and 21kg for 17in. If my bathroom scales are anything to go by, the 17in figure is spot on for most wheel/tyre combinations.

PS Makes you wonder why so many people think 18in wheels with even fatter tyres improves handling...

My 18's are much lighter than my 16 inch wheels.

Then again they are about the lightest 18's you can buy and are much lighter than any 17 inch alloy

The Speedline Corse at 8.5kg a wheel - with a 35 profile means theres not much tyre weight!

Steve, if as you claim your 18in wheels and tyres are lighter than 16/17in, then they are either very expensive indeed, or not strong enough for road use.

Steve, so if I understand your post correctly, your 18in wheel and tyre weighs less than 16kg...? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/confused.gif

Richard.

My 17" wheels with tyres were 1kg a corner lighter than the std 16" according to the bathroom scales, I think it showed 17kg for the 16" with worn std Rel's and 16kg for the Stillautos with new Toyo's.

Er... yes! amazing

Normal 18's weigh circa 13.5 kg. These are special jobbies - I think there may be a comment on the Scoobysport website on The speedline jobbies
