Maybe it's just me (it usually is!), but have you ever bought an album after years and years of waiting, only to ask yourself why you waited so long?

Specifically, i spent the weekend in the company of Ten, by Pearl Jam. And the ironic thing is, i've owned it for four years (bought on recommendation), but only bunged it into the cd player this weekend.

But WHAT an album!! Isn't "Alive" one of the greatest tracks ever? Superb!

Anyone else got any recommendations for hidden gems i might have missed?

I have only just "discovered" the Red Hot Chilli Peppers:rolleyes:....

:)

Avril 11 November 2002 10:39 AM

Rage Against the Machine's first album (self-titled) is nearly 10 years old, but it could have been recorded yesterday - still sounds fappin' great!!

Buy it now.

ChrisB 11 November 2002 10:40 AM

Does that have "Kiling In The Name Of" on it Avril?

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS....

Put them in the CD player three years ago and they aint been out since.

Now have the entire collection including rarities!

New CD (By The Way) brilliant but totally different to the old stuff which is more 'Funk Rock'...

Latest interest is a guy called TM Stevens and an album called 'Shocka ZooLoo'... bloody awesome Heavy Funk Metal!

Mak.

Avril 11 November 2002 10:45 AM

Chris - yep.

TelBoy 11 November 2002 10:45 AM

I'll also nominate Radiohead.

A lot of people have heard of them, not so many have taken the next step and bought the albums.

Ok Computer, and The Bends. If they're not in your rack, sort it ahhht!!

ChrisB 11 November 2002 10:59 AM

Avril - classic road rage inspiration that :D

Jack

Always playing that one :D

SJ_Skyline 11 November 2002 11:47 AM

Just discovered Rammstein - way cool :D

Mice_Elf 11 November 2002 11:48 AM

I'll concur with that, Rich - Ramstein is excellent. :D

mj 11 November 2002 11:53 AM

Boney M,

Rasputin is a corker.

TelBoy 11 November 2002 12:23 PM

MJ, now i'm going to open myself up to ridicule here, but i really do agree with that. For it's time, Night Flight to Venus was a good album, with some great tracks. It was just the "Brown Girl in the Ring" and "Rivers of Babylon" dross which spoiled it, IMO...

:D

JackClark 11 November 2002 12:38 PM

Puff, I first listened to DSOTM this year!! Couldn't believe how old it was. Brilliant album.

Dave P 11 November 2002 12:41 PM

Rediscovered the Waterboys.... doesn't get much better down the M1 with the whole of the moon so loud that you can't here anything else

TelBoy 11 November 2002 12:42 PM

Don't forget Division Bell, Wish you were Here, and of course, The Wall.

All classic, classic albums...

Olly 11 November 2002 12:44 PM

Different Kind of Blue by Miles Davis. Definative jazz album, yet only just purchased it. Mmmmm, nice.

HELLOM8 11 November 2002 12:55 PM

Ten is a wonderful album, get "5 against 1" or sometime knows as "verses" this too is amazing.
The new Chili Peppers is every thing I've been waiting for, just pure class.
The Counting Crows latest album "Hard Candy" is beyond greatest, truly amazing.
This is the best thread I've seen of SN, some people who listen to music and not musix.
Some other good stuff:-
Joni Mitchell - Blue.
Ryan Adams - Gold.
Soul Asylum - Grave Dancers Union.
Anything by the Beatles and Third Eye Blind..

Mice_Elf 11 November 2002 01:21 PM

Not that I am a huge fan, but the Corrs Talk on Corners is reasonable... ;)

TelBoy 11 November 2002 01:26 PM

If i want this thread highjacked by the Loony Brigade, i'll call. OK??!!

:p ;) :D

Another nomination - Stone Roses by, yes, the Stone Roses. Stunning.

Mice_Elf 11 November 2002 01:29 PM

Pffft.... :p;):p;)

Avril 11 November 2002 01:34 PM

It's always worth re-listening to Guns N' Roses. They're not quite Fleetwood Mac, and it's fashionable to slag them off, but they're always a hell of a lot better than you remember them.

:D

Mice_Elf 11 November 2002 01:39 PM

G'n'R are excellent! I have 2 of their albums in my CD changer in the downstairs stereo right now, in fact. :D

Avril 11 November 2002 01:44 PM

Would this be a good time to admit to owning 2 Adam Ant CDs? :p

Mice_Elf 11 November 2002 01:46 PM

No, there's never a good time for that. ;) :p

merkin 11 November 2002 01:55 PM

Reef - Glow - put this back in my car a couple of weeks ago, having not listened to it for about 4 years, still a top album :)

Avril 11 November 2002 01:55 PM

Pppppplplplplplpl ! ;)
