Bad Bads 07 November 2002 11:14 PM

I have just spoken to a guy who is organising a charity day,in aid of a childrens cancer ward at Southampton general,at Goodwood on the 30th November.
Apart from the normal track goers like me he is trying to make it a day for everyone.
There are rides in cars that can be booked and trips in a helicopter too.
I will leave the trackday details to Robins own post but think this a worthy day to get a group together for a stand and hopefully raise plenty of money for a worthy cause.
Those coming to the meet on Monday let me know what you think, and I am sure there will be plenty of interest from the other areas that are not a million miles from Goodwood.

Cheers Paul.

Bad Bads 08 November 2002 06:20 PM

Hi Rach.
No it is a Saturday.
Cheers Paul.

STI SPUD 09 November 2002 10:20 AM

Hi Paul,

Should still be ok - don't think he's mud plugging might be working though. If he is I should still be able to make it.

See you Monday.

Rach

Chris_S199 09 November 2002 05:11 PM

We should be able to make this Paul but will need to check our calendar first as November's a busy month for birthdays!!! :)

Hi Guys

Thanks for your interest in the Charity Track Event at Goodwood on 30th November in aid of the Southampton Children's Cancer ward Piam Brown.

The aim of the day is two fold:-
1. Directly raise finds for the Piam Brown Children's cancer ward by cars taking part in the track day plus taking paying punters around as passengers - a bit of a cheek, but attendee's are being asked to pay the full summer rate (£169), this is to boost the funds raised!!. The only "entry charge" being asked on the day will be a donation to the charity for pit side access. (parking etc will be free).
2. Provide a day out for up to 20, 10 to 18 year olds from the ward currently undergoing treatment. This will be via rides around the circuit / paddock plus allowing them to "see behind the scenes" of Goodwood etc.

The day will centre on a track day format, entry can be booked (if you are thinking of taking part - "0n Track") via the Easytrack website (www.easytrack.co.uk) where you will find it is being publicised and covered on the forum.

The only charges being incurred are those for the track hire as Easytrack are sponsoring the day. This means we have an opportunity to raise some serious dosh!!

A big plus for us is that FlyMagic (www.flymagic.co.uk) will be attending from 10.30 to 15.30 with a JetRanger Helicopter and Challenger flight simulator. In addition to offering discounted flights they will be making a contribution to the charity plus taking a limited number of the teenagers from the ward "up".
Normal cost for a 5min flight is £35 (see website) they will be doing them for £25 for adults & £20 for under 16's on the day - not a bad deal me thinks!

We will also have a display from the ward and an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for their draw which will be taking place the following day.

During the day we will be holding a "Pit Stop" wheel change challenge with prizes and Auction of goodies plus model car racing.

Easytrack days are normally fairly laid back affairs with lots of regulars taking part. The aim here is for everyone to have a fun day, to brighten up the lives of a number of young cancer sufferers and to raise much needed funds for the ward. (details of ward / charity can be mailed out if required).

Any support you can give is really appreciated. More than happy to speak to you guys about giving this a Southern area Subaru "bent". As such I will be attending the area meet on Monday.

If you require further info or questions answered on the day please Email me on sloth.racing@virgin.net (and yes I am slow on the track thus the mail address!).

I have very personal reasons for supporting this day and the ward so you help is particularly appreciated.

Regards

Robin

Paul

Please add me to the list of display cars (modified silver Wagon). Very keen to support this as my daughter Ami (now 14) had ovarian cancer when she was six. She survived thanks to specialist cancer treatment at Great Ormond Street and the Royal Alexandra Childrens Hospital in Brighton. Hopefully will bring her along on the day.

Keith

Bad Bads 12 November 2002 07:54 PM

No problem Keith.
Robin is going to find out how much room and where we can parked.
I will let everyone know meeting times and places when I know myself!

Cheers Paul.

Bttt.

Stuart J 16 November 2002 08:43 AM

Paul, def coming, can you provisionaly save me a space if we are to park together. Not 100% certain I will be in the Scoob as a mate wants to take 2 cars & I might have to drive the TVR if its got a new engine in time. You will probably hear it about 5 miles from the circuit as all the baffles have disapeared from the exhaust "somehow" !!! You should of heard it through the tunnels going into Italy, cars ahead of us were brakeing as they did not know what the f*ck was coming.
Its not going on the track, I think Robin just wants it for people to look at

Jen 16 November 2002 09:02 AM

TVR?! BRING THE TVR!!!! :D:D:D:cool::D:D:D

....I'll definatly admire it! Took me about 2 hours to leave the TVR stand at the Motorshow! :D

Jen

Bad Bads 16 November 2002 05:09 PM

No problem Stuart.
A quick update. RSOC are interested and I will know in the week how many are coming. A fifties car club which a friend of mine is in hopes to drag along some US muscle car's including a couple of hot rods!!!
The SIDC banner will be there so we need some sort of structure to put it on. I think Jen was going to help with this.

Cheers Paul.

Krud 17 November 2002 08:02 AM

Paul

Still got lots of stand stuff from the Dolomite Sprint Register days, including banner support poles, which I will happily bring if you can't source alternatives. Let me know.

Keith

Jen 17 November 2002 09:54 AM

Sounds good - how big is this banner? Let me know if you guys need me to sort anything out, but that sounds a whole lot more proffessional than what I had in mind! :D

Jen

STI SPUD 17 November 2002 02:59 PM

We've got a gazebo thing we could bring so if it is raining we can huddle under it - if thats anygood??

Paul, the more I think of going out on the track with you the more I'm losing my bottle - much to Marks amusement!! I'm going to see if my mate will bring his Clio V6 so we can all show him what a proper car should be like :D:D
Now where IS that life insurance policy?;)

Rach

Bad Bads 17 November 2002 03:23 PM

Hi Keith.
What a small world we live in,I too was a member of the DSR!
Bring along what you have got I am sure it will be of use.

I never thought you would lose your bottle Rach :D
It is not that bad.The guy I took out at Castle Combe thoroughly enjoyed it.

Jen. The banner is the same one that we had in the hedge at Castle Combe :D

Cheers Paul.

Jen 17 November 2002 04:03 PM

I remember the one...we've got a little Gazebo too, so I'll stick that in the boot. We can bodge a banner thing with the little concrete feet and poles if Keith has any problems bringing the real one :)

Jen
