Possibly going to look at a 2.0 Sport for my son over the weekend. Has 62k on the clock, anyone know if any major services are due around this point? Is 60k a biggy on a Sport? It's on a T plate.

Shark 07 November 2002 09:48 PM

60k is the big service, all fluids, filters and plugs. 45k is cam belt so check thats been done.

That's quite high mileage for a T plate. I assume the price reflects this? The next service after that that should be 67.5k which is an interim service.

Steve

Rusty Festa 07 November 2002 11:23 PM

62k high on a T plate  My Feb 2000 registered V plate has done 60k, the last 6k I have put on in the last four months

These cars are made for driving, not polishing on the weekend :D make sure there is a Full Subaru Service History and do a HPI check to make sure it has not been written off, etc

Are you getting it from a dealer? If so, it should come with a Subaru Proven Used car one year warranty

Happy motoring, Jon

MY00 DBM Sport :D

Silent Monkey 08 November 2002 08:42 PM

Thanks for the info.

Mileage doesn't really bother me. It is at a main dealer but as their asking price is £4995 it won't come with the Subaru Proven warranty although when I phoned them today they did say they would sell me one but couldn't (or wouldn't) give a price!

Down side is they say it has "minor" dents in both back doors and the bonnet!

Rusty Festa 08 November 2002 08:46 PM

body panels are notoriously wafer thin on all models - try and keep it away from the supermarket

How old is the lad? ... is he just going to add a few more dints himself?

Lots of peeps on here recommend these dent removal specialists - maybe the dealership will get it done for you if you buy the warranty - good haggling point :D

If you are not happy, then walk.....plenty of nice examples around ;)

stephen30 08 November 2002 08:49 PM

That sounds like a bargain for that price. It should come with a warranty though. See if you can find the car on subaru.co.uk, and it should tell you whether it does or not. As said though, they need your money more than you need this specific car.

He's 20, so every chance of extra dings although he hasn't on the other cars he's had. Depends how minor minor is but I was certainly intending to try and get them to fix the dents, I'll also let them know I'm thinking of replacing my MY01 :D

Steve
Subaru Proven warranty is only available on cars with less than 60k on the clock so its not on the web site. I have looked there and it doesn't seem a bad price in comparison to others around.

I'll go and see it as if I don't I'll never hear the end of it! All this because I won't give him my car keys :D

Echo 08 November 2002 09:38 PM

I've just got our R reg (98) Sport over 100k miles and it goes great!

After getting home in my new WRX this evening I nipped out to the shops in the Sport and had a load of fun, almost more than in the WRX (which isn't really run in to be fair)!

That milage should be fine and the price sounds ok to me :-)

Silent Monkey, my Red Sport is up for sale, ( i wanna trade up to a turbo)
Am thinking of trading in, but would obviously get less than a private sale.
Its just turned 75k, just had a main service, with fan belt & plugs replaced. Looking for summat like 4.4 - 4.6k. If you're interested at all, plz let me know.
Cheers
Glenn

I spent ages trying to find a sport about the 5-6k range. I could not find one that was less than £8000. I bought a P reg Megane Coupe instead :o(

5k sounds great for a sport with that millage. My Megane was £6000 with 50,000 on the clock.

I have just been looking around on the Subaru website and cannot find any Sports in Southern England for less than 9k regardless of mileage, age etc.

Darren

Rusty Festa 17 November 2002 06:52 PM

Bought my V reg (Feb 2000 registered) BDM with gold 15" alloys from Lancasters of Sevenoaks - travelled all the way down from Lancaster for it too ;)

paperwork says I paid £7.5k for it but got it on IM finance as best rate I could get (just over 5%) - keep looking as they are out there..

Why are you after a Sport if you already know your way around the Impreza Turbo? might as well go straight for an Imported Turbo as cost about same price as a UK Sport. I bought a Sport as I had never owned a Turbo or even a 4wd car before and did not want to take the risk so bought my Sport. just waiting now to clear some finance before getting myself into a turbo and, now I have all the contacts, would not hesitate to get an imported version :D

Cheers, Jon

Echo 19 November 2002 09:59 PM

As a follow up, and being curious, how much is my Sport worth? 98 R plate with 100k, green, 16" alloys, 4 new P Zero's, WR Sport exhaust, huge spoiler etc!

:-)

Mike
