One way of proving if the CD Text stuff has been written is, use something like CDex and pop-in your new burned CD. Under the CDDB menu, there's an option to read CD Text.

Cdex is free :) and easy to install. Might save some more coasters :)

I've got Nero and Clone-CD Software on my P.C. I want to write cds using CD-Text so that I can see who the artist and song title is in my car as my stereo has CD-Text facilities.

I'm sure there's a guru in here somewhere that can help.

Cheers

Gordon

I used to use Feurio to write my cd's before I had an mp3 player.
Very good for doing cd-text.. loads better than Nero.

Get it here

You can use it as long as you want without having to buy it. Just get a few nag screens.

Cheers

You can definately do it with Nero - it will even look up all the details for you on CDDB.

Can't remeber exactly how as it's a while since I did it, but I can have a look this evening.

Al

What version of Nero ?

bioforger 05 November 2002 02:11 PM

Yeh in Nero if u change the track names n disc name etc when u drag/drop the files to burn as an audio CD, when u come to the burning dialog Nero should give u the option to write the CDtext as well, or its automatic. As it knows the track names have changed, I believe. I know for sure it does this in Roxio EZCD5.

GordonShek 05 November 2002 02:23 PM

Thanks for the quick responses folks.

I've just got the P.C. so I reckon the version of Nero is quite new. Tried it a few times, did the drag and drop thing, relabelled them all, burned them but still no CD-text. What am I doing wrong?

HELP!

In Nero, when on the Write / Record CD box...

If you need to click "close Wizard".

Click the Audio-CD tab and check the write CD Text option.

I'm a bit of an amateur with computers so please bear with me. What does the Write/record cd box look like?

And so I have to close the wizard to get this icon?

I need step by step intructions me thinks.............

Same probs here with Nero - I have set everything up fine to write the CD Text (go to File > Compilation Info) but it still doesn't show up on my Sony head unit.

Given up these days.

ChrisB 05 November 2002 03:06 PM

When you go to burn the CD in Nero (click the red icon on the toolbar or File menu > Burn CD).

GordonShek 05 November 2002 03:36 PM

Aaha!!! :D

Never noticed the separate Write button before. I just checked the option, then went on to burn.

C-WRX 05 November 2002 09:23 PM

You will need to make sure the "Disc-At-Once" box is ticked in the "Burn" tab because cd text can only be written on to the disc this way.

stavros 05 November 2002 09:53 PM

anyone got the nero burning 5.5 setups?

jbryant 05 November 2002 10:04 PM

Not all CD-Burners support CD-Text. I know mine doesn't (it's an old Yamaha x4x4x16 CD-RW. I'm sure you'll be fine with newer models however

Just so you're aware.

A 4 speed burner?? Get with it :p

ozzy 06 November 2002 09:46 AM

You can check with Nero what your burner supports by selecting the Recorder menu, then the choose recorder option.

You should see something like this

http://www.hosw08898.pwp.blueyonder....mages/nero.jpg

Stefan

And before Rik gives me a hard time, that's only an example. I've a nice 48x burner :)

druddle 06 November 2002 10:09 AM

Also make sure you use disc-at-once burning if you are doing mix CDs as if you use track-at-once it will put 2 second gaps between the track.

ozzy - nowt wrong with that burner mate, it may be 4x but i can burn 98.25 minutes of music onto a 90 min CD with my drive and read it with every CD/DVD player i own ;) :D

GordonShek 06 November 2002 02:56 PM

Damn Nero!

Tried last night but I'm still making coasters/Frisbees/UFOs etc, etc, etc. My dog's getting tired chasing them!

What am I doing wrong? I drag and drop them onto my playlist, name every track, close wizard and click the cd-text option and then click the write tab. My P.C. is new and I have checked that the cd writer is compatible.

What else can it be? HELP!

Rob Walker 06 November 2002 04:00 PM

Told you... try Feurio.. It pisses on Nero for cd text..

snowcrash 06 November 2002 04:23 PM

or WinOnCD by CeQuadrat - that will do mp3's and CD text very nice app.
