Hi guys.

Since I got my beloved beast back from its 37.5K service, I've noticed a rather odd effect - it's hard to describe, but it's a bit like a very slight "floating" experience I can feel through the steering wheel.

"Momentary vagueness" is another way to describe it.

It's not worrying - the car feels pretty well planted as usual most of the time. The effect literally seems to last a nano-second; but it does keep happening.

Another description: similar, but not the same or as dramatic, as tramlining.

There may be no connection with the service (although they did manage to wrongly re-set my always-correct tyre pressures).

Anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions? The only thing I could think of was the power steering...? Everything suspension-wise seems OK (and nothing was reported during the service).

The car's a MY99.

Any response welcome before I call the dealer and find out I'm imagining things...

Maybe they rotated the tyres - Old rears are more likely to have a 'shoulder' as such and may tramline a bit.

Or am i talking bo**ox?

sounds like your wheel balancing.

My MY00 had a similar feeling on Monday night, but that could have been down to the 10 sacks of cement in my boot at the time http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

If it was wheel balancing youd get vibration through the wheel at certain speeds. Check the tracking.
