I did, yeah. I applied a small amount around the flat section of the spoiler where the threads enter the bootlid. I got some slow dry bathroom sealant that Ronseal (IIRC) make - goes on white but dries clear. It's a lot easier to clean off any excess than with traditional silicon sealant, and you get more working time to check everything's OK. Fully cures in 24 hours.
On the inside of the bootlid I also sprayed some waxoyl over the nut heads, which it looks like Subaru do in the factory. Although the spoiler came with a thin bead of foam attached around the base which seals it all pretty well once the nuts are tightened I thought it was better to be safe than sorry. Haven't had a drop of water in the boot despite all of the heavy rain recently, so far so good. [Edited by Mike P - 11/5/2002 1:33:54 PM] |

I've just got hold of the MY00/STi4 spoiler for my Terzo, which has a low-level spoiler.
Before I start fitting, is it a straight swap? The reason I ask is it has 4 threads out of the base but I can only see 2 exposed threads in the boot for my current low-level spoiler. Am I going to have to start drilling holes? |
No worries folks - search has sorted me out.

is it a straightforward job? i'm thinking of going from the v4 to v5 shape
help! |
In the end it turned out not to be too bad, apart from me dropping a nut and bolt into the boot lid cavity resulting in the boot lid having to come off so I could shake the fcuker out.
The low level to STi4 was OK as the fitting holes are exactly the same. The guy I bought off went to a Sti5/6 spoiler and had to have extra holes drilled in the boot lid, which doesn't sound like a barrel of laughs. Not sure if his was official or not. The only complication was I had to solder up the connections for the LED brakelight as the plug had been cut off. If you don't lose any nuts and bolts I would have easily finished the whole job inside an hour |
Mike P - did you use any sealer around the edges?
