As Dyney will testiy, my car is a weird MY96. It has a slanty intercooler, when perhaps it should have been a straight one - it's P reg & facelifted...
I am thinking of replacing the slanty thing, and was wondering what benefit a standard UK straight cooler would give me (over the cosmetic improvement...) Obviously, I would be better off shoehorning a slightly larger STI cooler in there, but I was trying (as always) to keep the costs down. What I'm looking for is better warm weather performance (hopefully things stay cooler for a bit longer) and maybe a small boost increase to go along with a possible ECU remap. Any comments/suggestions much appreciated. |
Don't know about performance increases, but your bonnet/scoop is designed for the straight I/C. So the airflow through the I/C should be better:)

That's what I thought, but wondered about other improvements and the age old questions of "how far to go", "is it really worth it?" and "how do I justify this one when I put my foot down about some £80 curtain poles?" ;)
When did you turn blue then? I guess Scoobynet is a religion for you now ;) New clutch is great - I can drive up hills again :D Just need to do the dampers (and possibly eibachs) now... |
I got "Made" (Mafia term I believe) A week or so ago:D
Scoobynet has been a religion for 2 years:D:D:D I did speak to Mike and he hasn't got any Struts:( Glad you got the clutch sorted. |
Thanks on the struts. Luke (IOW_duder) found two new standard front struts for approx £50 each. I like the sound of that. However, someone has 4 used eibachs and standard struts for not much more than that. Decisions, decisions... :)
Will probably go for the new struts and get eibachs later (if I bother at all - I like the WRX springs) Yes, "Made" is a Mafia term from some film or other ;) BTW, any more good IOW photos yet? Back to intercoolers then... ;) |
