Am I missing the place where it says prices are inc vat or plus vat ?

All prices as far as I am aware include Vat. :)
|
I dont think everything includes VAT. I think the gus who advertise should clearly state whether or not the items include vat.
Cheers Gez |
As a advertising vendor, I can confirm that ALL prices are supposed to include VAT.
If you find a price which you later find is pre-VAT, contact Simon. (aka webmaster) |
this was definately a concern of mine as some others seem to be quoting without vat to mislead vendors........
i can state that all of our prices are FULLY INCLUSIVE!!!!!!!!! alyn - as performance |
It would be nice to see ALL the vendors confirm that their prices include VAT.
Cheers Gez |
I totally agree about vendors stating exactly what the price relates to.
I also think that those vendors offering products from abroad, should also state whether or not the price includes shipping, handling, import duty, and VAT. I think that Simon should insist that vendors have this clearly stated. Lateral Performance prices include VAT, and shipping (within the UK). Mark. |
Hi
I can't understand the issue here. ALL PRICES on the shop MUST be inclusive of vat. If they are not, you need to tell me. We DO insist 100% that they are inclusive of VAT (where applicable). All the best Simon |

Toda pistons are available for £805 by a certain vendor. Their RRP is £850. WHen i phoned them up to enquire price the quoted £850+VAT. I cant see them selling the pistons for £805 inc vat.
Cheers Gez |
Name them then and forward to Simon
Rules are Rules ;) |
but i dont pay vat :) In future, will an option be available?
|
The reason for the shop to incl VAT is that because the average buyer will not be able to claim the VAT back
However each Vendor will know the vat laws and if they are exporting then of course there is no vat to charge It gives an even playing field in the shop ie no nasty surprises when you want to place an order Phil [Edited by phil_stephens - 11/27/2002 3:19:40 PM] |
OK...
HUGE apologies to all concerned here, and particularly for my blunt and (now it appears arrogant) reply. Somehow, the statement that all prices must include VAT has been missed from the terms of the shop. We did an email to all vendors about 2 days after the shop went live asking all to make sure their prices included VAT, but a number of vendors (including TDI) signed up after this. This is being rectified now, by way of an email to all vendors and the terms and conditions will be amended asap. Apologies again to all concerned. All the best Simon |
Yeahhhhhhhh! Prices have been altered to include vat! AT LAST.
Nice one guys. Gez |
One month for a complete reply ... not bad !

By law all prices on a retail advert must include the governments share of the sale the vat [tw@].
Trade sales are allowed to be ex vat . It must also clearly state that prices are plus vat, if vat is not inclusive and also the vat percentage .Apparently . These vendors will get into serious trouble with trading stds if it is advertised wrongly .Even if it isn't the advertisers fault . All this so tony blaire can act like merchant banker roflol |
...assuming the traders are VAT registered of course. No need to be VAT registered if your company's turnover is under the compulsory registration limit (£58k, IIRC).
|
Carl is spot on about the VAT registration limit, so there may well be smaller traders who don't have to charge VAT on their supplies.
As far as I understand it, as a matter of law, any contract for the supply of VATable goods or services at a particular price is assumed to mean the VAT inclusive price. I.e. you actually have to say "not including VAT" in the contract if the price is meant to be VAT exclusive. Having said that, the prices given by a retailer would probably be regarded as an invitation to treat rather than an actual contract. But if you realised subsequently that VAT was extra, you wouldn't be obliged to buy the goods. |
