STi-mulating demand for high performance

The establishment of a dedicated STi (Subaru Tecnica International) dealer network in Australia is paying performance dividends for fans of turbocharged Subarus.

STi Australia is launching it first parts and accessories, aimed at Impreza and Liberty performance car drivers looking for an extra factory-backed edge for their new or used car.

They include:
* An STi handling upgrade kit, with firmer coil springs,
stiffer inverted struts with adjustable damper rates and revised
strut mounts.

* Impreza WRX model year 1998-2000 engine performance upgrade -
lifts peak power from 160kW to 180kW. Includes a changeover ECU,
silicon intercooler pipes and an STi embossed exhaust system.

* STi performance components, including a Prodrive bodykit.

STi Australia has its own stand at Sydney Motor Show, featuring
several of the upgrades available.

The display includes a World Rally blue Impreza WRX STi with Prodrive bodykit and another STi with a dual colour scheme - half Subaru Rally Team Australia, half road car.

A Model Year 1999 Impreza WRX with engine upgrade will also be
displayed on an All-Wheel Drive dynamometer and a selection of
individual components will also be on view.

STi is the performance division of Subaru and Australia is the first market outside Japan to have dedicated STi dealerships, parts and accessories.

All components fitted to new cars prior to delivery, carry a Subaru three-year warranty. Those fitted to used cars have a two-year warranty.

The components have been tested locally to ensure their suitability to tough Australian conditions. The separate vehicle warranty is also retained.

Any car with a full engine or suspension upgrade kit will carry
an "Enhanced" badge denoting its improved performance.

Nick Senior, General Manager, Subaru Australia, is confident that any genuine STi Australia enhancements have the potential to add yet more value to Subaru performance cars and this is likely to be appreciated by owners when they come to sell their vehicles.

Each STi dealership has to meet exacting standards to ensure its
suitability as a centre for technical excellence.

Impreza WRX and STi owners have an absolute passion for their cars, their performance and their quality. By developing a dedicated dealer network plus a broad range of parts and accessories, we are taking our customer service to a new level.

Customers have the peace-of-mind of knowing that everything they buy has full factory backing and has been thoroughly tested to STi's exacting standards not only in Japan but in Australia too.

The first STi Australia facility was opened in Port Melbourne this
year, forming part of the world's largest Subaru dealership, Subaru Interactive @ Docklands which offers an exclusive STi showroom, merchandise and service bays, with easy access for visitors who are welcome to see the work being performed on their cars.

They are also encouraged to speak directly to the technicians working on their vehicle. A stand out feature of the STi is the All-Wheel Drive dynamometer at each location. These are used to test whether vehicles are achieving peak performance.

Technicians have been specifically selected for their skills with
high performance Subaru vehicles and are factory-trained.
