i remember a while back some people asked for a MY01 forum all to its self. i didn't like that idea and neither did many others saying that there wasn't an RB5/P1/ etc forum so why have one for MY01?

however, i'm starting to wonder if they weren't right.
what sort of owners enviroment is it where i have to read daily that i have an ugly, slow car. why should people, and they do, have to joke about their own cars as being "bug eyed" or "corolla like". it reminds me of the fat kid at school who took the pi55 out of himself to avoid a beating!
(tip to MY01 owners- dont sink to that level!)

i'm sure behind all the gags and " ;-) " peole must be getting bored of it?

there are loads of things i dont like but wouldnt think to comment.
for example if someone stuck a P1 pic on the members page i'd have a look, think how i've always thought the front looked to busy and a bit max power then read something else- what is it about someone that makes them think "i know, i'll tell him that cars ugly, oh- and while im at it i'll tell em its slow as well"???!!!

odd to say the least, do these people arrive at friends homes and slag off their house as well then start on their kids and how theirs are much nicer??

RB5 - Seriously overpriced and underpowered

P1 - Should not of even been imported. Far too expensive and an insult to any Impreza owner to have to fork out £31k on a new car.

Now the MY01. Dont worry it will pass. It wouldnt be Scoobynet if people all agreed.
Some live in dream land (Pete Lewis and the 21k P1 I should of been able to buy 6 months ago).

What'd be the point in that? where do you draw the line? If a MY01 owner comes in and says his/her car is ugly, does that make it any more/less valid than somone who does not own said car?

P1's came out, everyone said they were overpriced, etc. and they were/are, Jap Imports are picked on because of lack of warranty, difficult to get parts, etc. fair points, UK cars are slagged off for being under powered and under equiped, again valid points. That's the idea of a BBS, for people to express their viewpoints. If you don't like what they say, you ignore them, or make a structured arguement against them; not lock yourself away in your own forum where you are safe from the outside world.

Tiggs a lot of this goes back to when the MY01 was announced. It was like christmas eve and everyone wondering what the new toy would be like, with cheque books in hand http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif. Pictures were posted and nobody could quite believe it. I think people were expecting it to get more street racer (ish) and more aggressive. I for one was very disappointed and decided not to buy. I think the MY01 has some nice styling touchs. The door handles make it look very classy. Dont you think it was a shame that pictures werent leaked to the public to gauge reaction. A lot manufacturers use owner groups and Subaru have 7000+ petrolheads all with an opinion on here and some own subarus as well http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif.

I also think there is a pre MY01 backslash happening and a posting of pre MY00 had engine problems, dont handle, iffy build quality, crap interiors. Get a grip guys http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I posted the original request for a MY01 Forum but had a quite a few who disareed so left it at that, but i am getting of the same opinion again.
The thread started recently was asking if there were any problems with MY01 that a new owner should know about but almost instantly degenerated into a soapbox for all those who don't like the looks or feel the MY01 is not quite as quick as there car, so one way to let those who don't like the new car steer clear of threads relating to the poor relation would be to have a MY01 forum.

I still belive that we do not need a separate forum just becaucase we might come across people do not like the MY01.

I find it quite funny. When the MY01 was first launched and I saw the pictures in the press i thought feck http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif I ain't gonna buy one of them. Looks like a dam frog. I grabbed my cheque book and ran to the nearest subaru dealer to buy the last of the precious MY00's. I put a deposit down on a mica green MY00.

Then came away and had time to think... I really should test drive the new one. I was hooked I loved it over the MY00.

I like having the luddites bitch. Everytime the MY01 haters slag my cars looks I walk outside and admire her, just to reassure me I have made a brilliant purpose. I love the looks with the standard lights, very 21st century.

Everytime they slag her performance I take her for a drive. I love to drive her. Best chassis I have ever driven. Awesome is the word.

Evertime they slag her "lack of rawness" I drive for 50 miles on the M4 and remember I feel relaxed and fresh, not tired and battered after a motorway burn.

If I don't get to see this wallies resist evolution what the hell am I going to do in the evenings and weekends!!!!!!

Hey folks lighten up they are all great cars.
I am beginning to feel that I am suffering from schizophrenia here.
My tuned sti goes like a bomb and is fun with a capital F it is however made out of tin foil and about as crap an interior as can be found this side of the old iron curtain. It is also rough and unforgiving, uncomfortable on a long run ,thirsty and hard work to drive for more than 100 miles. I totaly love it though and cannot bear to part with it.
My MY01 is silky smooth , refined , comfortable for long distances, IMHO it makes the old syle car look dated, and it is reasonably quick.It seems to handle very well stadard out of the box.I am still waiting for the PPP which it needs badly but it does seem to lack some of the Fun factor. I know which I would pick for a long run.
Which is the best....I couldn't say they both have a lot to offer in their own way If the MY01 had more power I think it would be the clear winner here...I may well pick an MYO2 STI Prodrive for my next car we will have to wait and see, by the way who else thought the recent evo comparison of the various scoobies was a total load of opinionated bollox!

Chins, Pirum and i, would probably all agree, from experience, the MY01 is a better car than the old one.

I've had an MY'00 UK turbo, P1 and now have the WRX, the only thing i miss about the P1 is the power, as the MY'01 handles better!

I got one of the first MY01's back at the beginning of January, and i spent 3 months being slagged off!! Its really nice to have a few more real "owners" on my side now.

Glad to see others are sick of the bullsh1t too. Every MY01 thread and some d1ckhead has to have a go!!!

What i dont want to happen is that we suddenly become elitist. Lets be better than them!!!

Im all for a new forum. We could then just get informative comments from people who ACTUALLY KNOW what they are talking about - not the "my MY~ is LOADS faster but ive never driven an MY01" brigade.

Maybe we can be become the bug-eyed brethrin!!
