If it's cover for individual events, then the best people to contact are Egger Lawson, on 0115 941 5255.

Cover can range from between £30 and £120 per event, depending on the risk factors, and the amount of cover you wish to take out.

Many people do have track cover as part of their existing policies, but if you have to claim off it, then you may experience some hassle in getting the claim resolved (depends on your insurer and the terms of your policy), and potentially suffer much higher premiums for a few years (you'll have to declare it to all insurers for the next 5 years).

One thing to note, that there isn't a concept of "at fault" for accidents which happen on the track. If someone else spins off and damages your car, then you can't expect to claim off their insurance!!

Also, cover will be for accidental damage only. If you manage to destroy the engine and gearbox by changing into 2nd instead of 4th at 100mph, then you will be responsible for your own repairs!

What it boils down to is how many track days you wish to do in a year, and how good you are at not crashing your car. Cover which specifically includes track days would suit someone who does lots of track days is confident of no accidents. If you are only intending to do one or two track events and you may be better off with a cheaper road policy which doesn't include track cover, and pay separately for each event that you take part in.

You can even get a "seasons" cover for taking your raod car on the track. ie you pay a fixed fee, and simply notify the insurers in advance of each event that you are taking part in.

My insurance company won't cover me for any form of track day's.
As I am planning to do as many as possible this year, does anybody have a contact that I can use.

Hunty....find a broker who offers Norwich Union Club Insurance, which permits you to undertake 5 track days a year under your standard insurance at no extra charge, so long as you give them two weeks notice. The broker I use isn't up to much, but if you are unsucessful let me know and I will give you their details.
