I'm interested to know what peoples main gripes are towards main dealers and what they need to do improve the bad perception that seems to exist on here.

mista weava 15 October 2002 05:28 PM

considering that there ia not a dealer on the isle of wight anymore, i have a gripe that they decided to get rid. they seem to forget all the "cundry" folks who supported subaru from day 1. farmers and the like were the first to recognise subaru and many feel dumped over here and now buy other jap stuff but not subaru.
friend of my fathers has just got rid of his impreza gl for an a4 audi quattro.
i am irritated that my nearest dealer is sparshatts, southampton and i really think i am going to have to look to the one i forget the name of, on the road to gatwick via peas pottage.
cheers

Sounds like you're a dealer to me or are workin for IM??????
I've had bad experiences with Monks Heath Motors,Macclesfield. Can honestly say, that I will never do business with em again!! If you do work for IM,then you can mail me offline and I will be more than happy to fill you in.I'm not the only one that doesn't have too many good words for em!!!!! :(

On the otherhand,Mainland Subaru in Widnes are fantastic.Service Manager (Danny Dunbabin) is fantastic and always glad to offer advice!!!! :)

Cheers

kinda gripe but mainly a question.
Why do dealers always change bulbs that are perfectly ok?
I make a point of checking before the car goes in, and all ok. But somehow the dealer finds one that is blown??????
I didn't get charged, which confuses me even more, do they do it for browny points? help

I'm not from I.M, but do work for a dealer in the midlands and am genuinely interested in what annoys subaru owners about the dealerships and what we can do to improve the service we provide.

Set one up less than 35 miles from my home, and not on the other side of the rotten Humber bridge, either!

You guys do a lot of LPG conversions I see & offer a Legacy 2.0L up for comparisson.

Has this been done on a Impreza Sport?
How Much?
Is this conversion in anyway detrimental to the longevity of the engine as I seem to recall IM specifically saying that the engine is not suitable for conversion (same must go for Legacy then).
Has an LPG conversion been done/attempted for a Turbo & what if so, what were the results.
Any further info on experience with Subarus and LPG conversions.

Ta!

:)

i would dearly like to know why the dealer at blackwater on the isle of wight was pulled?
it was before my time as a subaru driver, thus i have never found out.
i can't believe that it was un-viable.
if anyone knows i would appreciate an explanation.

(definitely not slagging any one off and generally trying to be as nice as possible, in view of recent threads elsewhere on this board!)
peace
weava.

Scoobmeister - v v poor after sales from where I bought the car:-

- 4 week wait for mats which I negotiated in with the deal
- touch up pen still hasnt turned up 6 months later and never will
- wrong prices given for services
- wrong service details given (60 months not 60k miles as
requested)
- no subaru courtesy cars (i didnt buy a scoob to have a feckin
crappy diahatsu courtesy car which *I* have to insure !)
- "i called you earlier" excuses when you eventually get hold of
someone (and have to chase their ass to try and give them
business !!)

Having said that the dealer 15 miles up the road has so far been the complete opposite which is why they have my 60k mile service business on Friday.

Soobmeister 16 October 2002 04:14 PM

Yeah we've gas converted a few Subaru's, mainly Legacy 2.0 and Forester. Never converted an Impreza but would be same as previous two. Had a few running problems with them unfortunately which if they could be ironed out would make them a cheap car to run.

I.M will not honour warranty on engine and related components if gas converted, however I'm led to believe that a factory conversion could be on the way in the future! i would think hard before getting your car converted at the moment.

We were advised that the Turbo could be converted but to avoid doing so as it is a massive job and the success rates are low!
