Anything in particular i need to do apart from unscrew the foot plate, unplug the old, plug in the new, replace foot plate?

It's gotta be more hassle than that ;)

Mikey

that's all you do
:D

scrappy_doo 15 October 2002 05:14 PM

The ECU is it on drivers or passengers side ?
Sorry if this is a dull question ;)

SG 15 October 2002 05:46 PM

Passenger.

Canuck 15 October 2002 05:56 PM

Ah, doesn't it have to be mapped or something to avoid mechanical confusion? or is this a really naive and stoopid comment?

scoobyboy 15 October 2002 09:40 PM

you may have to code your keys in if they are the transponder type.

P20SPD 15 October 2002 10:35 PM

recoding the keys only applies to the bugeye version. Classic shape is just unbolt, unplug, plugin new one, rebolt and away you go.:D

Gridlock Mikey 16 October 2002 02:05 PM

Am I looking at breathtaking performance gains here what?

Does the ECU require time to "Settle"

Mikey

P20SPD - how and when would you recode the keys? First time I've heard of this. How is it linked to the ECU?
Gridlock Mikey - performance gains will depend on how the mapping has changed. Any change of getting it done at a rolling road? At least then you'll have some quantative figures on the change - run before, change, run after.

Gridlock

I assume you are talking about the AE801 ECU your are getting from me.
It is easy to install, just remove cover/kickplate thingy, unplug old ecu, plug in new ecu and away you go.

In terms of gains over the standard AE802 thats in MY00 cars I found it held slightly more boost and generally pulled much stronger.

I haven't recieved your cheque yet.
Regards
Steve

actually i've just the changed the ecu in a 98my turbo and had to code the keys. i believe it was a classic shape scoob as well so maybe we are talking about an import , i dont know if they have transponders or not. but i thought all uk scoobs from about 97my onwards had codeable keys.

Neanderthal 16 October 2002 11:57 PM

On my MY97 dash there is a little key symbol that flashes when the car is locked. This is in addition to my alarm LED. I was told this is the key transponder light?

But.. if people have swapped out their ECU's without the key being rest then who am I to disagree :)

Anyone have a PPP ecu to fit a MY97? ;)

Gridlock Mikey 17 October 2002 08:44 AM

Steve,

Sorry mate I got one from elsewhere, apologies if i didn't finish our e-mail dialogue, but I was at work at the time. Thanks anyway

Mikey

Mike, if you want help fitting it, pop over.

I had to get to mine to solder in my AFR meter so know how to get at them :)

Although I imagine even you could do it :D
