What's happened to my scanner?
Just moved up to uni and got my Athlon based system running XP set up. This afto I tried installing the scanner onto the system (not used it on this PC before, previously been very good on my old P133 machine) and it's developed a fault. It randomly spreads Red Green or Blue pixels about the place, doesn't seem to be any pattern to it. It does it with any photo and anywhere on the screen of the scanner.
It scans much more quickly than it did on the P133 machine, dunno if that could be a factor - presumably that's just down to the new maching handling the data faster.
It's just a £50 parallel job, but it's been very good indeed so I don't want to have to replace it.
Any ideas?
I can't very easily try it on another machine to test.

Cheers,
Ben

Try playing about with the parallel port settings in the bios.

If all else fails, get yourself a stonking new one about a inch think for £50ish :)

Download new XP drivers from the manufacturer web site. that should sort you out.

You also may want to check the mode your parallel port is set at. This is in the BIOS and you want ECP or EPP or ECP+EPP.
