Can't you find a friend with a free garage for the Scoob? It'll only be 6 months or so? Seem's silly to sell it when it looks so nice now :) You'd also lose alot of money :(

You could look at it as going backwards...but it's not just like being unemployed or something, future employers may look on it as a positive experience as when you return you'll be all nice and relaxed :) ...I wouldn't worry too much about it, do it now if you want too before houses/kids etc!! :eek::D

Hi All,

In my quest to sack my job off Im just wondering if anyone has ever worked as a ski rep / worked the ski season before.

I know it doesnt exactly pay, put I need out of my current job and just thought the ski season was approaching. I might be to late ofcourse.

Any experiences/ thoughts???

I did a season in France after Uni a couple of years ago. Worked for Crystal in one of their hotels. Great experience! :)

Everything provided: accommodation, food, ski pass, ski equipment, etc - so wages only needed to cover beer! :D

Met some great people, got loads of skiing done, even managed to save a bit of money to bring home! Definitely recommend it if you can get six months off work....

Andy - one of my old friends from school did this last year and loved every minute! :D She said it was hard work but had an excellent time and met lots of different people :)

I'd go for it if I was you - good chance for a good experience :)

very tempted I have to say.

Process goes like:
1) Resign
2) leave at end of month
2a) Sell car! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
3) naff off to somewhere snowy
4) return and take stock of things
5) back to square one looking for a "real job"

my point being, is this a backwards step and just delaying the invitable.

If you are serious, you need to speak to some of the ski companies as soon as. Better to have something sorted before going out there, although you can find jobs throughout the season.

Doing the exact same thing this year.

If you are a good skier then go as a guide for Mark Warner etc. as you get to ski all day.

Yep, did two seasons, working as a bartender, photgrapher, ski shop chap and deck chair seller! I was in Sauze d'Oulx, a very English resort, so no prob re language or jobs. That was in 93-95 so not sure what it's like now for work. It was getting harder to find a good job when I visited a friend a few years ago. If you do have any questions, pls mail me!

I was going to do that when i left school, but somebody told me it was a slippery slope, and things just went downhill from there...
Apparently the cable cars can give you a real lift though!!!

I did two ski seasons & had a great time.

I worked as a maintenance guy for a uk tour operator.

It was a great job as I had very little responsibility & I got lots of skiing time.

Working as a ski guide isn't all that its cracked up to be as you have to ski with guests all day !!!!!!

Check up with Uk tour operators, they always have people pulling out & during the season people get fired quite regulaly.
