Hi,
I have a 1996 STi that is sometimes hesitating when accelerating hard. Feels like when you get a bit of sh*ite through an induction kit but the car doesn't have one on it.

Had it serviced and new plugs etc last week, plus new fuel filter.
How do I tell if it's a coil pack playing up, and what readings should i get if i test them with a meter?

Just hope its not the MAF.

Any ideas?

Measure between the contacts on the connector, you should get approx 1 ohm.

They usually crack around the Spark Plug contact and arc to the cylinder head. Pull the rubber cap off and have a look.

I did post diagrams on here a while ago, but the PANTS search engine probably won't find them.

Oops.... I take that back as found it coilpacks (See Page 2)

Hi. i've had problems with my95 uk turbo ever since i got it a year ago.
I've tried every thing pos. The readings from my coil packs were all 1.3 ohms ( i think you loose some resistance throgh the cable) I've been to two different main deelers and they found nothing. Replaced rubber boots and plugs .New Exhaust s/s no cats. Knock sensor, Cleaned every pipe twice. And so on Sunday i took out all the plugs and droped the gap from 0.8mm to0.6mm and the car is fine. Running 14 psi. no truble and when it gets hot its still O.K.
This shows me its the coil packs.( fingers crossed) If the new coils are fitted and and it does the same i'll let you Know.

Nice one shipper... my gaps are 0.6mm idles a bit rough but seems OK unless it gets really hot (not a problem now winters coming).

Must really get on and order some Bosch Coils......

Can you tell me if the new coils you are getting are from main dealer or somewere else.
How much are you paying and would it be worth trying for a group buy as it seems that after 80,000 miles every one has dodgy coils.

Bosch coils (MEC723) are from Aus and replace the standard coil packs. You need to wire these to the existing coil pack connector, mount the coils somewhere then run standard HT leads to the plugs.

I think a few on here have bought some, but not sure how they got on with fitting. Wouldn't mind getting some myself.
