Nick,
Send an e-mail to Steve@Bansheemotorsport.co.uk He should be able to help you out, he has the measurements for that area that he took from my car when i used to work with him at a telecoms company. He has a couple of styles of mesh avaliable as well IIRC. Ian Steve will probably also be selling the mesh through Scoobyshop if you are willing to wait for it to open. Anyone got any clues on where to get cheap, good looking meshing for the big air intake that cools the radiator?
Pics would be good too :D Cheers, Nick (MY00) |
Builders Merchants tend to sell all sorts of mesh - worth a look?

aah, that's true. If anyone's got any hints on how to fit/what looks good, let me know :D

Got some fully galvanised "fly mesh" (5 metres for about £10) - 2mm diamond shaped holes. Not for the car I might add, but something similar might work.

Got mine from a local "tuning" shop. 30x90cm, made by Sakura Autoparts, www.sakuraautoparts.co.uk, for dealers
I had a choice of 2 different styles, diamond or circle, and red, black, blue, silver, as colours. The piece I bought was black, cost £11, and had enough to do the lower grille, the upper grille and two little pieces for my front spoiler air holes. Fitting was by trial and error, cut it with small tinsnips or good kitchen scissors(!!!), and attached by twisted pieces of copper enamelled wire on the bottom one, and v. small zip-ties on the top one. Both methods invisible from normal viewing distances. I didn't cut away the original grilles, but left them in place for attachment of new, and the new can be easily removed if I ever want/need to. Does adding this mesh over the original grill, rather than removing it first, not ristrict the airflow too much? I would have thought it might make the car overheat at slower speeds.
|
Not noticed it on mine at all, even when towing a caravan in temperatures of high 30's in France this summer, 5-up and with 4 mountain bikes on top.
The temp gauge never went above it's normal position. Alcazar |
chiark,
try Halford's Ripspeed section. see the following http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadid=124741 the body shop did the whole front of my car with two sheets of this stuff (about £17 per sheet) although i got mine a couple of quid per sheet cheaper ;) the pic doesn't show the quality of the mesh, but its very good.. just ask Trouser or anyone who has seen it in the flesh. cheers, Kev |
Oh, I like, I like a lot! Cheers mate, that's just what I want :D
