It is easy to do & there are mountains of standard lights avaiable second hand ! My dealer even leant me a set while i carried out the removal of the orange bits in mine just in case it went wrong !
The results are worth it :-

This may sound trivial, but a small fruit fly has somehow managed to find its way into my drivers side lamp
Ok, you probably wouldn't notice it, but I can and its bugging me (no pun intended). Its not so much the fact that its there, more the damage it may cause to the reflector if it decays (staining is my worry here). I know, I know, I should get out more.....

Question: can I easily remove the orange dome that sits inside the light at the top ? I quick check at the w/e suggests to me that its fixed in place and will break if removed.

Any entomologists on here, will the fly disintegrate in time ?

Maybe this is all a good excuse to dump the bugeyes and get Prodrive ones fitted.

Thats why they are called BUGEYES!

Seriously though I think there is a way which involves heating the lamps to remove the orange bits, try this http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...ThreadID=99663

You will invalidate your warranty if you dismantle the headlight m8 - looked into removing the orange blob, which invloves melting the seal around the front of the light unit and then re-sealing it!

If you're not worried about this, then it's apparantly not too technically difficult.

I am going to leave it, the task sounds a little daunting to carry out on a 6 month old car.

I am considering WR Sport Prodrive headlights now anyway, anyone know how easy they are to fit or how much a dealer would charge. I believe they are £599 to buy. I am trying to convince myself that they look ok on a silver car.

Hey I need to know if anyone knows how to remove that orange bulb on the side of the headlight on the 02wrx? It seems pretty technical and I don't want to touch it and f-it up. Any one have any idea?
thanks
El che!

I just cracked my orange bits with a pair of pliers (I never intend to put them back) no need to bake the lights.

Too late forehead. I had Prodrive lights fitted last November :D
