Just about to add second scoob to household (for the wife - a Sport, obviously http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif )...

As the Sport only has cat 2 immobiliser and non-remote c/locking, I asked for a quote to fit the same cat 1 immobiliser + alarm + remote c/locking as in my MY99. From the main dealer this is £399 + VAT.

This seems a lot - any problems with getting the same kit fitted at a local alarm merchant, if cheaper? What about the warranty (2 yrs Subaru warranty left on the car)?

By the way, insurance quotes for the Sport are as much as - or more than - I paid for the Turbo nearly a year ago... not looking forward to the renewal on the turbo!

Thanks for any advice on the alarm.

Cheers,
Gareth

Gareth,

I've just had a Toad Ai600 Thatcham CAT 1 fitted. Cost £329 from Protech in Bristol (tel: 01179 861611)and seems fine so far!

I noticed that Toad also do an upgrade to the CAT 1 system for people who already have a maunfacturers CAT 2 device. Not sure how much it costs etc. but might be worth a look?
