Any news on Stef's car ?

I was at the RSOC meet today at Donington, spectating from Starkeys straight.

As Stef approached Schwantz curve his car gave out a nasty crack sound and coasted to a halt at McLeans.

I saw his car limp back to the pits later.

I hope everythings OK, and not too expensive.

I think that title is a bit extreme http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

Richard Askew 19 August 2001 07:30 PM

....bloody hell that title scared the crap outta me - I'd only just said adios to Stef before he went out on track http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif ...some call Stef the CossieKiller aswell as his car.....not me tho - I know him as the Colliekisser http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

DavidBrown 19 August 2001 07:39 PM

Ulp!

Didn't realised some knew him as that.

Nah, nothing to worry about. His intercooler hose poped off, thats all. I spent the last hour sat in the damn thing having a laugh. We spent the last session playing with Gareth Lloyd in his escort cossie. He is a top driver.

Hey rich, i blew my rear diff up on my first lap on track, bollox. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif I gave stef my track pass as it was undrivable on anything remotely looking like a corner.

Didnt stop me having a go at the 0-60 sprint though! If it's bolloxed it's bolloxed. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

I set the second fastest time, 0-60 in 4.00 seconds. That was uphill on a pretty slippy surface so not bad for 2wd and a bolloxed diff.

The car that won, an RS200 running about 500BHP. 0-60 in 3.98 seconds. 2 hundredths of a second for gods sake! gutted. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

If it was 0-100 i would have won, no question, traction (or rather the lack of it) was a real issue for me.

Ahhh a baby one then http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Glad to here that's Stef car is fine..

You.... beat it in a 0 to 100.. I didn't know that you could pedal that fast mate http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

FASTER MIKE!! 20 August 2001 07:06 PM

could be wrong but doesn't the RS200 hold the world record for quickest production car (if you can call it that) 0-60mph, in something like 3.1sec!!! must have been a SLOW one!!
better get that flame suit on!!

johnfelstead 20 August 2001 07:26 PM

No, it USED to hold the record for 0-100-0.

That was something with serious power, like 700BHP though.

I would have destroyed that RS200 in a 0-100-0 test. AWD gives huge benefits up to 60MPH.

I think the current record is held by a caterham R500. I could be wrong?? I wouldnt mind having a go at that actually. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif LOL

Stef 22 August 2001 01:01 PM

Thanks for that David, scared me as well!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
My car and I are fine, I just don't post as much that's all. Need to get a pc at home.
Oh, and David, perhaps the telephone would be a better way to find out in future? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Stef.

Dizzy 22 August 2001 01:32 PM

er.. not sure if this is completley up to date but the Westfield megabusa holds the 0-100-0 doesn't it?

harj 22 August 2001 01:47 PM

Rich I think it would be me who would have destroyed the RS with me driving mate http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif LOL

Rich's RS200 has 575BHP and some monster other monster Kit to keep it on the twisty stuff, now thats a real car! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Adam M 22 August 2001 02:02 PM

I thought it was your rs200 harj :conmfused:

or at least thats what yuo told everyone on chat http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif.

I thought the caterham stole the crown from the mclaren f1, which pissed them off a bit, so they went out again in an LM (slower version) on a damp day, put in a bit more effort, and reclaimed it.

It was documented in top gear magazine.

That was some time back so th megabusa could have done it again.

Dr Nick 22 August 2001 02:30 PM

On the 0-100-0 thing, I read an article in What Car about a year ago where some guys set out to beat the record, at that time held by a Westfield, using a stripped out Mclaren F1

They beat the current record, I think the time was 12.something.

Maybe its been broken again since.

Does anyone know the definitive answer?

harj 22 August 2001 02:33 PM

Adam it is mine when it lives with me http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif over 1000BHP spewing out of my garage http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
