Just got NTL 512k - pretty swift ;) so, could be a stupid question, but cant I also use this to connect to the Xbox's USB port?
Anyone know? Is there any point in trying yet or do I have to wait for MS gaming network thingy. Neil www.scoobyworld.co.uk |
As I understand the X-Box doesn't have a USB port but and RJ45 Ethernet port. You'll either need a router linked to your PC for the X-Box or an ADSL ethernet/modem router.
Hope this helps |
<Pedant> NTIL 512K is cable ? so you'd need a Cable/Ethernet router not and adsl one....</pedant>

aaah, of course, well the NTL modem has RJ45 socket too so may try tonight, see what happens.
Nobody else tried this? |
Not yet, although I've got BY cable.
My Motorola cable modem (supplied by BY) has an RJ45 AND USB connection. I've just got it plugged into my LAN on the RJ45 port. Might try pluggling the XBox in tonight to see what happens. Stefan |
well Ozzy if it works I may see you in MS land l8r...... :)
Dont suppose it will tho.... :( |
Right, just tried mine on my home LAN and all I got was a link light and the activity lights flashing on the Xbox.
Can't get my packet sniffer working on my XP PC :(, so can't tell if it's broadcasting any packets on the network. I'm running ICS, so if the XBox was setup for DHCP then I'd expect my firewall to start complaining about blocked access. Stefan |
Found this http://www.planetxbox.com/features/articles/2001/gsa/
I'll have a look later and see if I can give it a try. Stefan |
