I'm going with a friend to look at a MY93 WRX this lunchtime.

Is there anything in particular I should look out for?

Cheers
Andy

Wheel bearings, anti roll bar bushes. these are bits that have gone on mine since I bought it. Brakes are naff anyway, tell him to get 4 pots put on, made a lot of difference to mine. Can't think of anything else except the usual checks (accident damage, even tyre wear etc)

Thanks Charlie.

I guess I should check the usual things like:

Tyres
Exhaust
Turbo (smoke/noise)
Intercooler
Brakes
Accident damage
Panel gaps
Wheel bearings
Bushes

Have I missed anything?

Just a thought, Paint on the window rubbers, may have been in something then not recorded.

Or you watch the temperature gauge rise and the check engine light come on!

Then pull over and watch all the coolant bubble all over the nice clean engine bay!!!

I take it you walked away?

Would have done if we weren't 3 miles from our car!

So I drove it back, and then walked away! ;)

When I bought mine (which was mint under the bonnet) my mate, the mechanic, took the cap off the header tank, to make sure there was no head gasket probs, with the motor still running and sprayed coolant all over the engine bay. I felt I had to buy it then :o :)

Andy check out if you can get into third gear easily enough. Otherwise you'd end up like me with an expensive bill which works out cheaper to buy a new gearbox (still not cheap). Oh the plastic header tank is also prone to leaking and its damn embarressing to have steam coming out of your bonnet. What I did is modified the brackets and installed an alloy header tank from a latter version. I'll think of other things to worry about latter on.
