Further from a comment made by one of the mods, I find it so true that i have to ask this question:

Do you drive even if the destination is exceptionally close?

If so, is it out of laziness or the temptation of taking the car out for a spin? http://216.40.241.68/contrib/geno/rofl.gif

Little Miss WRX 25 September 2002 03:18 PM

If it is a short distance then I sometimes walk or even cycle!!!!

If I do take the car, then naturally I have to take a detour in order to warm her up and cool her down again ;)

eboyling 25 September 2002 03:33 PM

At the same time we bought the Scooby, we also bought a bike for my wife, and for distances <10 miles we (sometimes) cycle. Always walk to the Station for work (not paying 3 quid a day instead of a 15 minute walk, I'm too tight!).

However do drive to the gym  but not sure why!

Esoteric Beast 25 September 2002 03:42 PM

Drive everywhere.......

Newsagents 5 mins walk away.................DRIVE
Chip shop 5 mins walk away..................DRIVE
Grocers 6 mins walk away....................DRIVE
Work 15 mins walk away......................DRIVE
Petrol Station 18 mins walk away............DRIVE

But then I would look stupid going to the petrol station without the car now.......wouldn't I ??????????????

paul-s 25 September 2002 03:47 PM

Lol @ Esoteric Beast. very funny mate.

as it goes i got in my birds brothers car the other day to pop somewhere. my belt had just clicked in when he switched the engine off and got out.

we were there already (1.1 fiesta not warp 9) btw.

black knight 25 September 2002 04:24 PM

that's more like it, i'm feeling better now...

i'll show my other half that i'm pretty normal, or normally lazy.

SiPie 25 September 2002 05:04 PM

Congratulations Black Knight...

This must rank up there with the most pointless/saddest threads ever. You could have added the following:-

1) What colour is your car?
2) Have you raced a .........?
3) What colour of hair have you got?

All IMHO of course, no personal insult meant....but what is this board (bored!!!) turning into?

The Zohan 25 September 2002 05:09 PM

SiPie

In answer to your Post
Red
Raced a what, spit it out
Almost Black (and some grey) Thanks for asking ;)

SiPie 25 September 2002 05:14 PM

Paul

Nicely defused.... no wonder you are a moderator!!

I should clarify that my comments apply only to 'Scoobynet General' and there is a wealth of great and useful info on drivetrain/for sale etc, sections which I admit I would have been stuck without in the past.

No offence meant

The Zohan 25 September 2002 05:16 PM

Hi there
I am not usually known for my tact so thanks

You have hit the nail on the head re general and othe forums

All the best

Paul

black knight 25 September 2002 05:17 PM

if it's sad and boring, why do u even bother replying? wouldn't ignoring it be better for you.

i do find some threads pointless but i don't go around slagging them off, it's a free bbs.

imho, re your suggestions of questions, post a new thread and don't hijack mine.

this was supposed to be one of those pointless yet amusing thread (some thruth to it though) coz it's my off day and it's just like chatting on the internet with scooby and other car enthusiasts for a laugh.

can't take the heat, get out of the thread. oh! and no personal insults intended. and i was half expecting this to be moved to muppet forum anyway, u/ve been warned...

AndiThompson 25 September 2002 05:18 PM

Soon as I get me car, I'm driving EVERYWHERE, 17 sodding years I've waited to get driving, I'm driving next door I am :D

JackClark 25 September 2002 05:22 PM

I drive my car with my bike on the roof. Sometimes I stop for a ride, sometimes I just drive ;)

mista weava 25 September 2002 05:36 PM

SiPiE,

you must have a bad day. any one that is on scoobynet has to be slightly peverse anyway, in the sense that they are that obssessed about their car in the first place! that includes me and you btw!:)

i have seen many what you may call boring or pointless threads, however, often the most pointless and boring ones turn out to be the funniest and most entertaining.

we cant all talk purely subaru all the time - we will go insane(er)!

peace to all,
weava

chill winston!

SiPie 25 September 2002 05:40 PM

Black Night..

Think you've taken it the wrong way.

I'm not one to dive in when I see a standard my99 in the for sale section for 15k and tell the dude that it's way overpriced. I agree totally with you that it's a free site and each to their own, nor would I normally slag off a thread. Just like you say I would just ignore it.

But today was finally the day and having trawled through (IMHO) dull threads I just happened to make a point perhaps at the expense of yours.

If you thought it would be moved to the muppet forum then why not post it there in the first place?

Save the general forum for 'generally interesting' things, rather than 'do you take your car to the chippy'..

Just so that this is not a complete thread hijack ...
'No I don't drive everywhere'

black knight 25 September 2002 07:15 PM

LOL
my simple question requires just a simple answer.

i was here to find out that how many people love their cars
like mua to want to drive it anywhere and everywhere regardless
of cost and obviously petrol money coz it never happened to me with my prelude and 328i.

the feeling i get from the scoob is that i just want to drive it given the slightest reason, hence the question 'do u drive your scoob everywhere?' this is a fair question i think and the moderators will move if it becomes muppet-y. http://216.40.241.68/otn/laughing/laugh2.gif

peace...

Hoppy 25 September 2002 07:35 PM

Stupid question. There are loads of places I don't drive to.

To the bog, stagger or crawl.

To the kitchen, walk if nobody else is around to fetch stuff for me.

To the bedroom after she's drunk too much, walk quickly while pretending to be nochalant :D

LG John 27 September 2002 01:48 PM

In answer to the original question 'yes' I'd drive to my scooby if a car would fit between it and the front door :D

;) gulty as charged!!

Josh L 27 September 2002 02:25 PM

Sorry I'm a bit late to the thread, but the traffic between the living room and the study is dreadful, and parking's even worse. I've had to double park outside the bog.

Josh

PS Guilty as charged.

Jay m A 27 September 2002 03:45 PM

Guilty

Except when staying over at my girlfriends flat who lives 5 miles away. In 18 months of seeing her, not once have I left it overnight in Herne Hill :D

Justin

P.s. My dad used to drive 75yards to work, I kid you not  I am a black sheep in his eyes...

care3 27 September 2002 03:51 PM

only place i dont drive to is the pub:D

TolTec 27 September 2002 03:56 PM

I don't go everywhere in the scoob...

sometimes I use the wifes car.

paul-s 27 September 2002 04:02 PM

Ive just got a mk2 fiesta for 20 quid. can drive that now some of the time.....runs on air nearly. !

black knight 27 September 2002 04:26 PM
