Pre MY01 scoobs have two cats, one in the downpipe, one in the centre section of exhaust.
As long as you keep the cat in the downpipe all will be OK for MOT time, some have said that the car will pass with just the centre (smaller) cat in place, I cannot verify this as true or not.

Its the emissions you need to worry about. Fitting a BB is fine and won't affect that. Its when you start removing CATs that emissions becomes a prob. On the MY99 and older AFAIK the main CAT was in the downpipe and another in the Centre section. Removing the centre one is ok as the main in the D/P will still pass. Remove the D/P and leave the centre in, you may just pass if you really heat the centre CAT up before the test. Remove both and its a failure. I went with removing the centre CAT so the car would still pass. You then have other solutions like sports CAT D/P which are available.......

Hi Group,

I have heard that fitting mods such as downpipes and ScoobySport BB can cause problems when it comes to MOT emission and Noise test.

Is this correct ?

A backbox, will make no difference to a MOT.
As for a de cat downpipe, depends on who you know, where you take it and who fitted it.

When I had my de cat downpipe fitted, I asked about the MOT and the guy just said that they would get it through, will find out if they are true to their word next year.
