I have been looking to get a barrier deadlock fitted to my car but noticed that these things are now sold by dealers. What are they, how do they work and are they any good?
Ta :) |
They are a form of locking bolt which, when fitted within the centre console, will enable you to "lock" the gear selector in reverse gear, thus disabling your car to any theif who is "not willing" to reverse your car away! Better still, always park your car "bum in" against something "non moveable", so the lock will work even better as they cant reverse off!
Word of warning though, these locks are not yet "thatcham approved" so wont get you any discount off your insurance by having one fitted, purely "peace of mind". So speak to your dealer first, get him to state in writing that it is "thatcham approved" or you could seriously waste at least 350.00 having it fitted. |
i have fitted one of these and there not bad, they fit under the console and all you can see is a hole in the side where the pin goes through. it's bolted down with shear off bolts so it can't be removed very easy.
i fitted it to a sti which didn't lock in to reverse only 4th gear. |
How do they compare to the original Barrier Deadlock though? :)

I have the barrier dead lock and it is a great piece of kit, mine was welded in at their own workshop and cost a lot less than £350 :eek:
