Has anybody had an aftermarket clutch fitted.

I have just been quoted £670 to have a new clutch fitted by Fenny Compton Subaru.

Even though my car (MY99) is still under extended warranty, I am considering going with a non Subaru replacement as £670 is a whole load of money.

On top of that the car is almost ready for a 75k service which will cost, AND I will soon need to replace my front disks as the EBC pads I had the missfortune of fitting have eaten the current ones.

Just to update, Tyres Northampton have just quoted me £220+vat for a new clutch fitted. This seems an excellent price, especially considering it is a 5 hour job.

What am I missing?

Rivett autos in Sussex does it for a simalar price:D Had mine done a few months ago and not had a problem.

£220 + vat, is that for a new clutch cover, clutch plate, and new release bearing ?

If that price includes 5 hours of labour, it doesn't leave much for parts.

Mark.

I think the 220+vat is just the fitting part
Go check out www.scoobymania.co.uk and order one of their AP clutches, then go get that fitted there ;) you may find its cheaper as they only charge 25 quid an hour labour ;)

Tony:D

PS, be warned that you may want to take more money than you expected to take in the first place as you may wish to buy more than just a clutch ;)
