A guy I know is selling his TV - Sony Trinitron Widescreen (KV-W 282). It's a couple of years old and was bought in Hong Kong. He says it was top of the range back then - loads of features, S Video, 100mhz, etc...

Anyone know whether this is worth buying? and for how much?

Cheers,
T

AP, thanks - i'll check it out. :)

Anyone on here got any views? How do you value a second hand TV?

Things have moved on a long way in two years. Early 100hz screens although flicker free were pretty soft looking and had a tendancy to leave trails behind moving objects. With the prices of TV's going down and the specification going up I would only buy it if it were going for next to nothing. If you are interested in a widescreen TV mail me offline with an idea of your budget and I'll see if I can sort you something out. (42"Plasma for £3k!)

Go for a Panasonic or an LG, they knock the Sony ones into a cocked hat:D

The Triniton tubes are nice, they're completely flat in one plane - exagerated it's like looking at an upright cylinder rather than a fish bowl. But they're not as good as the newer Wega tubes, which are completely flat in both planes.

For reference, you can get a brand new 50Hz 28" Sony Wega for £560, 100Hz Wega for £670, and other makes can be picked up for as low as £300.
