I have the Prodrive "Performance" suspension kit (developed circa 1997) fitted to my MY98 Impreza.

I'm currently using a 20mm rear anti-roll bar and a 19mm front bar and I'm wondering: if I were to fit something like the Whiteline 20-22-24 adjustable rear bar and use the 22 or 24mm setting, would the dampers be able to cope with the added lateral stiffness or would the working of the suspension be otherwise adversely affected?

Thanks very much.

P.S. Anyone with personal experience with this exact setup, please feel free to comment! Cheers!

Mike???

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? I have it on good authority that if one installs a big rear anti-roll bar without sufficient damping, you can get yourself into a really dicey (read unrecoverable) situation if you lose it.

Cheers!

The honest answer is I don't know as we haven't actually tried it. Generally increasing the rear roll stiffness is not a bad thing if you don't go too far. The dampers should be able to cope with a small increase in bar size, what they may not cope with is a significant increase in spring rate.
