Hi all

What are the pros/cons of lagging manifolds and downpipes ?

Is there much of a difference in under bonnet temperature while at speed ?

Cheers

Which exhaust manifold & which DP? You just have to be a little careful about what's in them & what they're made of... And what there is there heat-wise at the moment.
DP (as long as it's catless!) doesn't make a lot of difference either way - small improvement; if the lagging didn't cost anything it's worth doing, but not a lot more!
Headers - oem units - don't! But aftermarket tubular ones most likely it's imperative, unless they have that ceramic coating stuff on them.

Hi Nom,

They are tubular headers.

Shame cos I thought they'd look lovely from underneath, so you reckon lagging is a must, is this to reduce under bonnet temps for gains or because it could fry stuff if you didn't ?

Thanks

Fried oil pipes & stuff! It does seem a shame to wrap them up - the only bit showing of mine is the 4-1 collector as I couldn't persuade the wrap to stay on there ;)
Wrapping the headers should make a performance difference - you should get improved spool up from the faster flowing gases. I can't compare on this though, as I wrapped mine before putting them on.
